MillerBug loves for things to be his size. From toys to food, if it’s toddler friendly, he’s all about it. And it just so happens that one of his favorite items on the face of the earth is fruit. But watching him carry around big old pieces of fruit and try to fit them in his mouth is sad (OK, and a little funny too). And recently we’ve had to stay away from some of the larger fruits because they are just not sized right for him. So, when I got the chance to check out Lil’ Snappers, I was so excited! I knew that they were smaller versions of the fruits he loves. But what I didn’t know is how much fun they would be!
From the moment they arrived, MillerBug was taken with them.
He loved the small size and how perfect they were for his hands. And once he tasted them, he was even more excited! I think his favorite was the California Mandarin Lil’ Snappers! They were so sweet and while they were the perfect size for his hands, I found myself going back to them over and over again! In fact, we loved them so much that the whole bag disappeared before I even knew it! And MillerBug was super bummed!
But thankfully, as soon as he tasted the next fruit, Cara Cara Navel Lil’ Snappers, he was OK again! And since they were so cute, we decided to turn them into an even more fun snack using a recipe from the Lil’ Snappers website! We made Orange You a Caterpillar treats that were so much fun!
To make them all we had to do was peel a Cara Cara Lil’ Snapper, slice it and lay the pieces out in a line like a caterpillar. Then we added blueberries for the eyes and raisins for the legs! It was the perfect way to make fruit even more fun for MillerBug!
And in the end, MillerBug loved his special fruit treat even more than before!
In fact, I think when we run out of these he’s going to be a very sad little boy indeed! I hightly recommend little snappers to anyone who has kiddos with little hands!
