As I have delved more and more into my love of crafts, I’ve found that I want to make things for around the house. And while I’ve done picture frames and decorative pieces, I wanted to attack something new – like pillows. Except there was one problem – I don’t sew. As in wouldn’t even know where to start. But then I got to thinking. I don’t have to sew….when I could glue! So, I pulled out my hot glue gun and got to work making no-sew pillows that are super cute! Here’s how you can make them too!
What You Will Need
Plenty of your Favorite Fabric
Hot Glue Gun and Glue
Batting or Stuffing
How to Make It
Start by laying out your favorite fabric. Then figure out the dimensions of your pillow. Using a ruler, draw lines onto your fabric to create the outline of the pillow. I like to fold the fabric in half before I do this so that I only have to cut once and am ensured two sides that match up.
Once you have the outline of your pillow drawn, cut along the line, creating two sides that match up with each other.
Now, turn your sides of fabric inside out so that the outer covers are facing inward and touching each other. Then using your hot glue gun, make a thin line along the outside of the pillow and push the sides gently together. **Note: Do not go all the way around! You need to leave an opening in once side to stuff the pillow.**
Continue to attach the sides around three of your edges. On the fourth edge, only attach half of the fabric, leaving your opening for stuffing.
After allowing your glue to dry completely, gently turn your pillowcase back right side out. Use your hands to push out the corners and give it the correct shape. And now you’re ready to add stuffing! Gently fill your pillowcase to where it is firm but not overfilled with your batting or stuffing.
Don’t be afraid to push your hands down in the pillow and flatten out any lumps and bumps! Work the filling to make it look the way you want it to! Once you are satisfied with your filling, you’re ready to close the opening that you left. Add hot glue to the outer edge of one side of your opening and then fold the fabric over to make it match up with the rest of the pillow.
Be sure to tuck your corner in before securing the edge so you don’t have an uneven edge sticking out! And you’re done! Now, fluff your pillow and enjoy it where ever you need a pop of color!
This is a great, fun and easy way to add some color to your decor and some relaxing pillows to your home – all without ever picking up a needle and thread!
