I keep thinking if I decorate for Spring the weather will follow! So I’ve been setting out flowers and adding pops of color all around my house. But earlier this week I was looking for something fun that the kiddos could do with me that would not challenge me too much in the craft department while still providing the perfect Spring touch to my home.
If you are looking for a sweet yet simple spring craft, look no further than this spring burlap banner. It is such a fun and frugal way to get into the spring spirit, especially if you like décor that has a natural look. You only need a few supplies from your local craft store, so take a look below at how you can get busy crafting your own. They are so simple!
What You Will Need:
Burlap flower cut outs
Ribbon or yarn
Spring themed scrapbook paper
Scissors
Glue
How to Make It:
First, let me say this craft is super affordable! We were able to find all of these supplies at our local Hobby Lobby craft store. The burlap cut outs were around $2.99 plus 40% off. You can also find a wide variety of scrapbook paper for around .50 cents per sheet. Take a peek in the Easter/Spring section for these items and more!
Once you have picked up the supplies, you’re ready to start on your craft! Begin by cutting circles out of your scrapbook paper. You can make them as big or as small as you would like! Ideally, you’ll want them to fit inside your flower.
Next, apply some glue to the circle and press it to the center of your burlap flower. Continue to press it until it has adhered well and is almost dry. Remember that burlap can be harder to make items stick to so give it a little extra time just to be sure!
Add a dab of glue to the back of your flower and press it onto your yarn or ribbon. Again, hold it until it’s adhered well and staring to dry.
If you want to add a special touch, you can add embellishments between each flower such as bows, or glitter and you can alternate scrapbook paper to create a look that is all your own. The fun of this craft is that while it may follow the same instructions as someone else’s, you can really find ways to make it uniquely your own!
Once you’re done, all you need to do is decide where your Spring Burlap Banner will hang! It’s a great way to add a pop of spring charm to your fireplace, above doors and even around the island in your kitchen! So start creating and get ready to welcome Spring into your home the crafty way!
Love it!! Burlap is so versatile and cheap. I love the egg patterned paper. Pinned 🙂
How cute — think I’ll try this over the weekend — looks fun and easy.
This would be a super cute project to do with kids! So many fun ways to personalize it.
Those are lovely! Great idea.
Oh, love it; it is nice to see crafts using burlap, you don’t see it much and that fabric makes for a nice rustic craft material.
