It’s su-su-summertime and that’s sure to have you singing and dancing along. During the summer, music is a constant in my home. From rocking out in the car with my boys to streaming our favorite songs by the pool, we’re all about upbeat music that simply makes us happy! In fact, just this past weekend, as we were experiencing a unusual amount of summer storms, we decided to have an impromptu dance party and sing away those dark storm clouds over our house. Now, both of my boys LOVE to dance so as they got ready to get their groove on to the songs that make them happy, I sat down to compile a playlist!
I wanted it to be a mix of songs that the kids love and that the hubby and I love. So I first got all of our phones, lined them up and looked to see what we had been listening to lately. Then I pulled the songs that overlapped that I knew we all loved and created a list of our favorite summer songs!
We had some new songs, some classics and some that were just fun. And I knew without a doubt that as soon as I uploaded this playlist, there would be a whole lot of happy shaking going on in our home!
By combining songs that the kids love with classics that the hubs and I think embody summer in the best way, we were about to put together a list of rainy day songs that made it feel like the sun was shining bright in our home! Then all that was left to do was push play and dance it out so to speak with our happy summer music!
Let me tell you, it may have been POURING outside but our kitchen was filled with happy summer music and happy little kids! The smiles on their faces as each new song came on literally lit up the room and reminded me that it’s the little things that truly bring the most joy – like stopping on a rainy summer day to play your favorite songs and just be silly!
And of course, once our impromptu dance party was over, it was time for a little something sweet to fuel all that happiness! Since we were having so much fun and being so silly, I decided to whip up a kid-friendly treat with a little twist: Rice Krispies Nutella Pinwheels! These fun summer treats were just right for enjoying between songs! Here’s how you can make them too!
What You Will Need:
3 Tablespoons of Butter
10 Ounces of Marshmallows
6 Cups of Rice Krispies
1 Jar of Nutella
How to Make It:
Start by melting your butter and marshmallows and pouring the mixture over your rice krispies. Stir well until they are combined. Then pour your mixture out onto a baking sheet and press it firmly to flatten it out. Once it is a flat sheet, top it with your Nutella! Set your treat aside and allow it to cool completely. Then starting with the long side, simply roll it up.
Once your Rice Krispies Nutella treat is rolled up, slice it in half.
Then, using a sharp knife, cut about inch thick slices and place them on a plate.
Then all that’s left to do is serve them to your family to refuel them for all those happy dances!
So, don’t wait! Check out our summer playlist and see if a few of those songs inspire a little happy in you. Then whip up a treat to enjoy with your music whether you’re stuck inside because of rain, on the road or enjoying your summer vacation! I can guarantee that the combination of fabulous summer music and a special Nuteall treat will have you feeling, well, happy!
Can’t get enough of our favorite happy songs? Well, since anytime is a good time to dance it out, be sure to push play below and dance along to the songs that make us happy! And I kinda sorta dare you not to be happy watching my kiddos bust a move or two!
