This time of year I really start thinking about my health. Between New Year’s resolutions to eat better and work out more and the dreaded cold and flu season, I spend more time than normal thinking about things that I can do to ensure I stay healthy. And the older I get the more important it becomes to me to find ways to take care of myself and maintain the way that I live.
Whether you’re younger or older, it’s more important that ever to find effective ways to manage your health. While I am in no way a medial professional, I’ve found a few ways to ensure that I’m living a healthier lifestyle.
Exercise Daily: This is really a struggle for me but I’ve committed myself to living a healthier life by exercising daily. That doesn’t mean that I have to hit the gym for 3 hours but it does mean that I’m holding myself accountable to work in 30 minutes of heart rate boosting exercise a day.
Take Vitamins: This seems like a given right? Wrong! I so often forget to take my vitamins. But this year I’m doing what it takes and setting a daily reminder on my iPad to take my vitamins. It’s just a super simple way to ensure that I’m getting the vitamins and minerals I need to stay healthy!
Know Your History: Knowing your medical history is super important! If you have a history of certain illnesses, you need to let your doctor know. But even more so than that, you need to be able to tell them dates and issues you have faced in the future. Don’t leave your medial history up to your doctor. Instead keep files and notes that you can easily access when answering medical questions.
Go to the Doctor: Whether it’s for an illness or simply a check up, I’m making visiting my doctor a priority this year. In the past I’ve been the type of person who only went to the doctor when I HAD to because I didn’t have a doctor I loved. But this year I’m discovering the importance of finding good doctors that can help with all of my health care needs. And I’m making sure I do the same for my kids!
