With St. Patrick’s Day coming up quickly, I’m working on giving some of our favorite treats a festive makeover. A few years ago we went through a phase where the kids were nutty about Puppy Chow. They asked for it daily but it kinda phased out after a while. Earlier this week when I was trying to think of a sweet surprise for them, I thought once again of Puppy Chow…with a twist! You see, my guys prefer white chocolate over regular chocolate and since white went much better with my idea, I decided to go with it and create Shamrock Puppy Chow!
What You Will Need:
12 Ounces of White Chocolate Candy Melts
1 Teaspoon of Crisco
6 Cups of Chex Cereal
1/2 Cup of Confectioner’s Sugar
How to Make It:
Start by adding your Candy Melts and Crisco to a bowl.
Melt them in the microwave for first one minute, stir and then heat another 30 seconds until the chocolate is beginning to melt. Stir your chocolate melts vigorously until it has formed a liquid with no lumps. Then pour in your Chex cereal and gently stir your mixture until the cereal is completely covered (be sure not to crush your cereal in the process).
Once your Chex cereal is completely covered in your white chocolate, add it to a gallon size zip lock bag and pour in your confectioner’s sugar. Then shake your bag well to cover the Chex cereal with sugar. Once all of your pieces of cereal are coated with confectioner’s sugar, pour them onto a dish in a single layer and allow them to cool completely.
Once they are cool, sprinkle shamrock sprinkles over the top and toss well. Then serve!
This fun treat only takes minutes to make and is a sure fir hit for every member of your family!
