I can’t believe that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! This time of year is especially exciting for me because February is both my birthday month and the month when my favorite holiday (AKA Valentine’s Day) occurs. Now I know you’re thinking “Heck yeah! Presents galore!” but that’s not what I love the most about February. What I really love is the ability to indulge in beautiful treats all month long! And it’s pretty much been my mission to plan out easy to make desserts that are perfect for enjoying not just for special days but on any day of the month.
In fact, just yesterday (the official start of “love month” just in case you guys missed it) I decided that it was high time to get started on some sweets. Full of ideas but short on time, I racked my brain for a solution. As I stood in my kitchen and watched my kids eating their Snack Pack pudding cups, the easiest idea ever hit me! You see, I’ve always been a fool for pudding cups. Yup, you heard me right…they are so NOT just for kids. And while I can totally eat my Snack Pack pudding cups plain, I decided they were in need of a little loving makeover that would transform them into the perfect treat for all my February celebrations!
Inspired beyond words by the ability to take a simple everyday snack and make it into a completely drool worthy creation, I headed to Walmart to pick up more Snack Pack Pudding Cups (since my greedy littles had just finished the last one). I tried really hard to decide between chocolate and vanilla but finally gave in and added both to my cart since I knew that together, I could create an easy to make dessert that was perfect for both the kids and adults in my home!
Knowing that weekends were a prime time for a special treat for my family, I headed home to create a little something that we could all enjoy! Since I was totally feeling the love, I knew I wanted to give my treat a Valentine’s Day theme. And the perfect way to do that was with a little color and some cute printables. So I sat down at my computer and created quick and easy Valentine’s Day Printables that could take my Snack Packs from plain to amazing in two seconds flat! Then I set to work creating my Lovely Layered Pudding Cups.
What You Will Need:
Chocolate and Vanilla Snack Pack Pudding Cups
Red and Pink Food Coloring
6 Graham Crackers
Reddi Whip Whipped Cream
Valentine’s Day Sprinkes
Pink and White Colored Straws
How to Make It:
To get started I cut out my Valentine’s Day Printables. Then I cut my pink and white straws into thirds and laid them all out with my pudding cups.
Once my printables were cut out, all I had to do was secure the straw pieces to the back of them with tape or hot glue and set them aside.
Now I was ready to start on my pudding cups. With the easy open lids on the Snack Packs, getting started was as easy as gently pulling the top off on my pudding cups! Honestly, when was the last time your prep work for a delicious dessert was that easy?
Once I had opened all of the pudding cups, I emptied vanilla pudding into three bowls and chocolate pudding into one bowl. Then I added red food coloring to one bowl of vanilla pudding and pink food coloring into another bowl of vanilla pudding and stirred them well until the colors were even. Once all my bowls of pudding were ready, I set them aside.
Next I added my graham crackers to a large plastic bag, sealed it and used a rolling pin to crush the graham crackers.
With all my ingredients ready, it was time to set to work assembling my Lovely Layered Pudding Cups! I quickly rinsed out my pudding cup containers and dried them so that I would be sure to avoid any smudges of pudding left behind. Putting the pudding cups together was so simple! I just alternated the layers of colored pudding and graham cracker until the Snack Pack pudding cups were full.
I also mixed things up a little by alternated between colored vanilla pudding and plain chocolate pudding in half of my Snack Pack cups so that there was something special for chocolate and vanilla lovers alike! Once my cups were filled to the brim, I smoothed out the pudding on the top, laid out my printables and prepared to finish my treat in a beautiful way.
With my cups filled with creamy pudding and crunchy graham cracker, it was evident to me that the perfect finishing touch was Reddi Whip Whipped Cream for the top. It was so easy to squirt the whipped cream onto the top of my pudding cups for a delicious, stunning and sweet addition.
Finally I sprinkled a small amount of Valentine’s Day sprinkles on the top of each dessert and then pushed the straw of my printable down into the pudding to secure it.
My finished product looked amazing and I instantly knew that it was the perfect treat for every member of our family.
From the kiddos to the adults, it was appealing to us all in a way that totally made us drool!
And while they still fit into the category of simple, with just a minutes I had transformed each pudding cup into a festive and beautiful easy to make dessert that I could feel great about indulging in since it just so happened to contain as much calcium as an 8 ounce glass of milk!
I’ll be honest and say that I snuck a taste of my treat before my family made it to the kitchen. After all, I needed to ensure that the pudding cups tasted as amazing as they looked and I can say without a doubt that they did! Just as I had expected the creamy and delicious pudding paired with the crunch of graham crackers and the smooth finish of Reddi Whip was perfection! I instantly knew this dessert is one that will be making repeat appearances throughout the month!
And almost as amazing as the taste of this treat was the ability to toss the container in the trash once we were done enjoying our Snack Pack Pudding Cup creations! For this mama who loves creating much more than cleaning it was the perfect solution!
I have to say every member of my family agreed that my Lovely Layered Pudding Cups are a must try treat this February (and any time of the year really!). No matter what you’re celebrating or if you’re simply in need of sweet pick me up, this is an easy to make dessert that you won’t want to miss!
To kick your February off to a sweet start, be sure to head to Walmart today and pick up the easy to open Snack Packs in the snack aisle! Then turn your pudding cups into a creation that any everyone is sure to love!
Tell me, who will you share your Lovely Layered Pudding Cup with?
How yummy and fun!
