My youngest loves to craft. In fact, pretty much every afternoon he heads for our cabinets, pulls out the glue gun and looks at me expectantly. However, his thing here recently has been making crafts that can be his “pets”. He’s been asking me to make a bunny for quite some time and I just hadn’t com up with the way that I wanted to do it. But as he was waiting patiently the other day, I happened across one of my favorite crafting supplies – pom poms – and inspiration hit me. Out of just a few items that we already had at home, we were able to put together an adorable bunny craft that is perfect for little hands! Here’s how you can make your Easy Pom Bunnies too!
What You Will Need:
White Pom Poms in Small, Medium and Large Sizes
Googly Eyes
Pink and White Crafting Foam Sheets
Pink Pipe Cleaners
Hot Glue and a Hot Glue Gun
How to Make It:
Start by cutting out ear shapes from both the white foam and the pink foam. They don’t have to be perfect and you can free hand them – just make sure the pink parts are small enough to fit into the white “ears”. Once they are all cut out, glue your ears together. Then glue your googly eyes to your medium sized ball. Next glue your ears to the top of that same ball.
Once your head is ready, put a small dab of glue on the bottom and secure it to the top of your large pom pom.
Make sure it stands on it’s own and then glue two of your smaller pom poms on the front for feet and one on the back for a tail! Finally cut short pieces of your pipe cleaner and glue two together for each side of the face.
Add hot glue to the end of your pipe cleaner “v’s” and secure them to each side of the bunny’s face for whiskers. And that’s it! Your done!
Now if your kids are older and want to do this craft alone, just use regular glue so there is no chance of them getting burned! But if you have little ones like I do, you’ll be thrilled to watch them stare in wonder as you help them place together their new bunny friend!
Then all that’s left to do is play away with your family of bunnies that are sure to make Easter more fun!
Happy Crafting!
