I cannot believe that we’re officially back in school! Both of my boys have settled into the daily routine of going to school, learning new things, eating fun lunches and doing homework. While their biggest concern daily is which of their friends will be waiting for them in front of the school when I drop them off, my biggest concern has become what to pack in their lunchboxes. To help come up with easy solutions, I’ve partnered with Wet Ones® + Pepperidge Farm® for a sponsored post. While compensation was received, all opinions are my own.
Mornings are crazy busy now that school has started back. Between trying to get the kids up, feed them breakfast and pack a lunch they will love to send them out the door with, I feel like it’s complete chaos. I’ll fully admit that no matter how early I get up in the mornings, there never seems to be enough time to think through all that I need to do – much less actually do it. So I’ve been working on coming up with some shortcuts. When it comes to packing school lunches, I’ve simplified the process with some easy tips, tricks and ideas! Are you ready to hear more?
Keep it Simple Stupid
No, I’m not calling you stupid (in fact after some of my less successful experiments I’m talking more to myself) but honestly, simplicity is the best method when packing back to school lunches. Aim to include a fruit, a protein, a starch and a little treat for a lunchbox they are sure to love! While I totally envy those moms that can make their lunchboxes look like a work of art, for me finding a combination of foods that my kids love and presenting them in a way that is fun for their little hands is the true equation for lunchbox success!
Pack Everything They Need in One Container
If I could tell you the number of times my kids have come home saying “What? That was in our lunchbox?” well, let’s just say the number would be very, very high. With the craziness of school lunch time, packing everything in one easy to see box can ensure that your kids get the full lunch you would like them to have. For me, this means packing food AND Wet Ones® Singles in the same package. Otherwise, chances are the Wet Ones® Singles that I trust so much will end up getting lost at the bottom of the lunchbox.
Include More Than Just Food
Speaking of packing Wet Ones® Singles in the same container as their food….remember that germs are all over in schools and giving your kids protection you can trust with an easy to use wipe that kills 99.9% of germs is really a no brainer! By adding these individually wrapped wipes to their actual lunch box, you’ll be dramatically increasing the chances that they will remember to clean their hands before and after their meal, meaning that the only thing going in their mouths are the creative lunches you’ve prepared for them!
Choose Items That are Easy to Eat
Want to know why clean hands are an important part of the lunch time routine? It’s always a good idea to remember the kids love to use their fingers when it comes to their food. So pack items that will make lunchtime more fun! Since my oldest son was in preschool, Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish Crackers have been in his lunchbox daily. With a variety of tasty options, they are a fun and easy way to give your child fingers foods they will really be excited about! Pair their Goldfish Crackers with meat and cheese roll ups that are easy to pick up and fruits that are the perfect size for little hands and you’ll have the combination for lunch time success!
Finish it With Fun
Once you’ve packed the perfect lunch and thought out everything that’s included, give them a fun way to carry it to school! If you have younger kids, it can be extra fun to find an adorable lunch bag. If your child is older, look for something a little more edgy. Regardless of which way you go, by packing it all up in a bag they love, you’ll make lunchtime much more exciting on a daily basis.
Remember that what you pack inside your child’s lunchbox should be items that are balanced but that they will enjoy eating. Talk to your child and ask them what they like. Then work with them to find balanced meals they can’t get enough of. By really getting creative with items your child loves and that they will want to eat, you’ll find the formula for lunchbox success really isn’t that hard!
So no matter whether you choose to wrap it up with meat and cheese rolls, substitute a sandwich or keep things extra fun with shapes, be sure that your lunchbox is always stocked with Wet Ones® and Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish Crackers! That way you’re sure that no matter what else happens in your kids’ school day, lunch will be a huge success!
