There are few things in life that I love more than coffee. From the time I wake up until the time I go to bed, it’s just part of my day. And recently I’ve made Iced Coffee my beverage of choice. Now, for a while I was picking it up on the go but then I discovered International Delight Iced Coffee and let’s just say mama is in love! The fact that it can be stored in my very own fridge and is ready without any preparation has saved the day on more than one occasion. And during the summer months, if you saw me chances were pretty good that I had a glass of iced coffee in my hand.
But now, as the weather has started to cool down, I bet you’re thinking I’ll abandon my much loved beverage and go back to a steaming warm cup of joe. And, well, I have to say you’d be….WRONG! Because I’ve discovered that any day is a good day for International Delight Iced Coffee. In fact, instead of abandoning my beloved beverage in favor of something warmer, I’m taking the flavors of fall to a whole new level by adding my beverage of choice to a delicious recipe to create what I’m sure is going to be everyone’s favorite Fall dessert: Caramel Macchiato Tiramisu Trifle!
Now, stop drooling for a second because seriously, I have to show you how easy this crazy delicious and amazingly fancy looking dessert is to make. But before I give you my top secret recipe (you’re going to be surprised at the ingredients) I have to tell you the thought process behind it. You see, recently I was at Walmart with my shopping list. And on it (as always) was International Delight Iced Coffee. As I headed back to the cooler section I didn’t have a care in the world. But then, I stopped dead in my tracks because my fridge-friendly and ready to drink daily treat wasn’t where it had been before. At first I looked around in confusion. Then I started to panic a little. Then, I’ll be honest, I started to pace the aisle. Because I was having a major meltdown thinking that someone made the decision for me that the coffeehouse taste without the coffee house hassle that International Delight iced coffee delivers was not OK for fall. Knowing that would not do at all, I searched high and low. And right when I was about to give up, I spotted it. In the very last cooler, nestled above the tea and next to the juices, I saw a familiar carton.
Now, I may have sighed in relief. I may have even done a little happy dance in the aisle (trust me when I say if you ever see a crazy lady with a horrified teen and amused preschooler dancing in the iced coffee aisle of Walmart, its me – be sure to come say hi!). And then I grabbed my iced coffee and made a run for the check out. Now, I did stock up but don’t worry, I left plenty for you.
With my iced coffee safely loaded into my car and my heart still beating a little fast over the scare I had in the store, I started to think of something sweet that would calm me down. Knowing that I needed a little relaxation after the worry that my Iced Coffee had abandoned me, I decided it was only right that I whip up a little treat! And since I was filling especially attached to my International Delight at that moment, I knew it needed to be included. As I thought through my tried and trusted recipes, the idea of Tiramisu came to my head because coffee added to any dessert is just amazing. But then an idea hit me and I decided right then and there that I needed to whip up a Caramel Macchiato Tiramisu Trifle that was simple to make yet looked and tasted first class!
To start by Caramel Macchiato Tiramisu Trifle, I sat out all of my ingredients.
What You Will Need:
Pound Cake (told you I had a secret ingredient)
8 Ounces of Cream Cheese
1/2 Cup of Sugar
1/4 Cup of Heavy Cream
But then I decided to take things a step further. Because who needs store bought whipped cream when you can make your own French Vanilla version? So I quickly added two cups of whipping cream to my mixer.
Then in went a cup of International Delight French Vanilla Creamer (told you I was all about the coffee theme).
After whipping them together on high speed for about seven minutes I had creamy, delicious French Vanilla Whipped Cream to use in my recipe.
With all of my ingredients now ready, it was time to turn my Caramel Macchiato Tiramisu Trifle into a reality. First I looked for a large bowl that I could make my treat in. But then I saw my single serving trifle bowls and I knew they would be just perfect. After setting them out, I set to work doing the only real mixing that this recipe requires.
Into a bowl went my cream cheese, 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of heavy cream.
I quickly mixed them together until they were creamy and then added my fresh French Vanilla Whipped Cream back in and mixed it all together. With my creamy component taken care of, it was time to really take this idea to the next level with the help of International Delight.
Because while most of you may be familiar with making Tiramisu with black coffee, you’re about to have you mind blown with a more flavorful option that boasts coffee house taste and is sure to leave you drooling! With my iced coffee in hand, I quickly cut slices of my pound cake and gently pushed then down into the bottom of my trifle dishes.
Why did I use pound cake you ask? Well, quite simply, it’s easy to shape and the best part? It soaks up liquid really well, allowing me to really take my trifle over the top by adding not one but TWO tablespoons of International Delight iced coffee to each layer.
I measured out my International Delight Caramel Macchiato Iced Coffee and poured two glorious tablespoons over my layer of pound cake. And don’t you worry, it took a few seconds but every drop was absorbed ensuring that each bite was going to be a blast of coffee-rific flavor!
Once my iced coffee was absorbed into my pound cake, I added a layer of my French Vanilla whipped cream and cream cheese mixture and smoothed it out.
Next, another layer of pound cake and more International Delight Iced Coffee went into my trifle bowls.
With the scent of my Caramel Macchiato iced coffee filling the air, I added a final layer of the whipped cream mixture to fill the bowl.
Now, I can tell you that by this time I was drooling and could have just stopped there and enjoyed every bit of the delicious coffee taste but I decided to go one step further by sprinkling caramel over the top.
Then I added on a few chocolate shavings for the perfect finishing touch that both looked and tasted awesome.
And ta-da! My Caramel Macchiato Tiramisu Trifle was complete and can I just say that it looked beyond amazing!
The pound cake had turned a beautiful brown color as it absorbed the International Delight Iced Coffee and I seriously coudln’t wait to taste the first bite.
As I pulled out a spoon and sat down for an afternoon treat, I was almost giddy with the fact that my iced coffee was going to make a classic dessert something that I could love even more.
And from bite one, I knew that I would never make Tiramisu any other way again.
Because packed into each and every bite was the coffee house flavor of International Delight Iced Coffee that I so love.
But in addition to that, all my complimentary flavors came together to enhance the iced coffee in a way that I couldn’t love more! With the cool creamy filling, the denseness of the pound cake and the burst of Caramel Macchiato flavor in each and every bite, this is now the ONLY way to make Tiramisu I will ever need!
I may be planning to make this daily because it’s just the perfect Fall dessert that satisfies my sweet tooth and my desire for delicious, creamy iced coffee.
