You guys, I’m seriously in shock that Easter is just a little over a week away! This year just seems to be flying by and all the grand plans I’ve had to really make holiday special are slipping away. But (thank goodness) over the past few days I’ve had a little time to think of ways to make our Easter celebrations a little sweeter. With bite sized Easter treat ideas and adorable candy bouquets that are perfect for placing on my table or gifting to friends, this is one holiday that I’m ready for! And I have to say, with a little creativity and some time spent in the kitchen, I’m making this Easter the sweetest ever!
So, what makes Easter special in my home? Well of course the food is important. But for me the decor and desserts tend to steal the show. In fact, I spend the entire holiday weekend whipping up adorable creations and finding ways to get everyone feeling like the Easter bunny has just made a visit. Knowing that this year we’re going to be spending Easter with more family and friends that ever before, I’ve been coming up with impressive ways to make the day extra sweet while making it kinda crazy beautiful as well! I started my mission to come up with Easter treat ideas with a trip to Sam’s Club to stock up on sweets that the entire family loves.
While the candy selection at Sam’s Club is always awesome (seriously, bulk bags of M&M’s® have my heart), I was thrilled to find that my favorite candy items had already put on their Easter finest! With M&M’s® Pastel and MARS Spring Minis Mix, I was instantly inspired to use these favorite sweet treats to create not only an amazing dessert but also cute candy bouquets to use as centerpieces and give my guests to take home after!
Once I had stocked up on the larger bags of M&M’s® Pastel and MARS Spring Minis, I headed home, put on my thinking cap and came up with ideas that are so cute, I almost can’t believe I made them! So, where to start with my sweet Easter treat ideas….let’s go for the Easter cheesecake truffles (yes, you did read that right!) first!
What You Will Need:
16 Ounces of Cream Cheese (Softened)
2 Tablespoons of Vanilla Extract
1 Cup of Confectioners Sugar
1 Cup of Crushed Graham Crackers
1 Bag of Green Candy Melts
How to Make It:
These adorable Easter cheesecake truffles are not only crazy cute but they taste unbelievably good! And the best part is, they are super simple to make! To start I simply added my cream cheese and vanilla extract to the bowl of my mixer.
I creamed my ingredients together until my cream cheese was light and fluffy and then mixed in my confectioner’s sugar. After mixing in the sugar, I had what looked (and tasted) like cheesecake filling.
Next, I added my graham crackers to a bag and crushed them until they were fine pieces.
Once my graham crackers were crushed, I mixed them into my cheesecake mixture and immediately filled my waiting square molds with them, pushing the cheesecake down into the molds to fill each one completely.
Once all my square molds were filled with my cheesecake mixture, I placed it in the freezer for one hour to harden.
After an hour, my cheesecake bites were hard and ready to be covered and decorated! I removed them from the freezer, melted my green candy melts and prepared to turn these into beautiful Easter cheesecake truffles.
First, I dipped each cheesecake square into my candy melts, covering it completely and tapping my fork gently on the side of my bowl to shake off any excess chocolate.
Then I placed on yellow M&M’s® Pastel into my still soft shell and added six more M&M’s® Pastel candies around it to form the shape of a flower.
After repeating this process with different colored M&M’s® Pastel candies on each of my Easter cheesecake truffles, I set them aside to harden and moved on to the next step in my Easter master plan….creating Easter candy bouquets that are perfect for decorating and even better for sharing!
What You Will Need:
Small Terra Cotta Flower Pots
Paint in Easter Colors
An Assortment of Easter Ribbon
Easter Grass or Moss
Cake Pop Sticks
Cut Out Flowers (cut your own or buy them cut)
How to Make It:
I have to say, I had no idea these candy bouquets would turn out as cute as they did but they are just perfect for placing all around during my Easter celebration and sending home with my guests as well! To start with fun Easter treat idea, I spray painted my flower pots in bright, Spring colors.
While my flower pots were drying, I cut out flowers in a variety of shapes and colors (*Note: I used my vinyl cutter for this step but you can free hand your flowers or even find them pre-cut at the craft store).
With my flowers ready, I began the assembly of my Easter candy bouquet. To start, I attached a piece of the MARS Spring Minis Mix candy to each of my cut out flowers.
Then using a little hot glue, I added a cake pop stick to each flower.
I continued to repeat this process until all of my flowers had a piece of candy and a stem attached. Once they had dried completely, I set to work putting together my Easter candy bouquets. With my flower pots ready, I tied colorful ribbon in a bow around the top of each one and added a second piece of accent ribbon with hot glue to really make my flower pots beautiful.
Next, I cut a piece of flower foam so it was small enough to fit inside my pot and pushed it down all the way to secure it.
In went a handful of my Easter grass to make it look like my candy flowers were really growing!
Then, one by one, I pushed my candy flowers into my flower foam to secure them and create the look of a potted bouquet!
After evenly dividing all my flowers between my pots, I was thrilled to see that I had centerpieces that were adorable (and pretty tasty too!).
With my centerpieces complete, I headed back to the kitchen to see if my Easter cheesecake truffles had hardened and I was thrilled to see that they had! Each truffle had a hard outer shell with a beautiful flower created from the M&M’s® Pastel candies!
And when I bit into them, I was greeted with the crunch I’ve always loved from M&M’s® combined with the creaminess of delicious cheesecake! Serious yum I tell ya!
After surveying my afternoon’s work, I have to say I was pretty pleased with myself. Not only did I have delicious Easter treat ideas to serve to all of my guests but I had in one afternoon created everything I need to ensure that my Easter celebration is extra sweet!
