I’ll admit I love all holidays. But honestly, there’s just something about Valentine’s Day that makes it extra special. Maybe it’s the fact that it falls during my birthday month (more presents are always a plus!). Perhaps it’s that my favorite color in the whole wide world (think pink, people) is prominently on display. Maybe I’m just a hopeless romantic. Whether it’s one of these reasons or a combination of all three, Valentine’s Day is huge in my home. I spend weeks planning perfect parties and coming up with signature drinks to ensure that whether it’s a night at home with my hubby or a celebration of love with friends, Valentine’s Day is memorable. Of course this year I’ve been working on taking our celebration to new levels with tons of Valentine’s Day decor and my drink of the year, an easy to make 7UP Love Potion!
Before I share my super special drink that I’m sure everyone will want to whip up immediately, I think it’s important that I offer a few pointers for throwing together a simple Valentine’s Day celebration that’s crazy easy (and way impressive). Honestly, I used to think putting together a small party was difficult. However, I’ve discovered over the years that simple is best and with a few easy steps, I’m able to create an amazing atmosphere.
Choose Color Theme
An important part of any celebration is finding a color theme and sticking with it. This is especially true at Valentine’s Day and, honestly, what better color theme to use than red and pink? Once I had settled on my colors (was there really ever any doubt of what I would choose?), it was as simple as picking up all of my decor in these lovable hues.
Create a Signature Drink
With my pink and red color scheme secured, I knew I needed a signature drink to anchor my celebration. Of course it needed to tie in my with red and pink color scheme but it also needed to taste amazing! After thinking through what I wanted my drink to look like, I headed to Walmart to pick up the main ingredient, 7UP®. With options that included 12 ounce 12-packs and 12 ounce 8-packs, stocking up on this starting point for my mocktail was simple!
I knew that by using the delicious lemon lime taste of 7UP, I had the perfect base for an unforgettable Valentine’s Day mocktail. And since the clear color and bubbly nature of 7UP lends itself perfectly to creating a variety of lovable mocktails, the ideas of how to make my 7UP Love Potion were endless. I’ll admit that I tried several different variations of this amazing drink that involved cranberry juice and grenadine. But once I tried adding pomegranate juice to the fizzy taste of 7UP, I knew I had hit Valentine’s Day gold!
What You Will Need:
2 Cups of 7UP Soda
1 Cup of Pomegranate Juice
Pink Colored Sugar
Mocktail Glasses of Choice
How to Make It:
I’ll admit that I’m a very visual person, so while my drink itself tasted amazing thanks to the addition of 7UP, I wanted to make it look spectacular as well! To start, I needed to do a little prep work. I began by cutting my wooden skewers to the right length for my mocktail glasses and gluing a sparkly heart onto the end of each one.
Next, I washed my strawberries and cut them into the shape of hearts, adding one to each skewer so that it would sit right above the rim of my 7UP Love Potion.
Once I had my skewers prepared, I poured my pink sugar onto a plate, wet the rims of my mocktail glasses and dipped them into the colored sugar to create a delicious and colorful crust around the rim.
As soon as my sugar was added to the rims of my glasses, I mixed together my 7UP and Pomegranate juice and stirred it well.
Once it was ready and had a gorgeous red color and an amazingly delicious taste, I poured it into each of my waiting glasses.
After garnishing each glass with my heart strawberry skewer, my 7UP Love Potion was complete and I have to say it was amazing! With just the right amount of fizz blending perfectly with the lemon, lime, and pomegranate flavors, it was a mocktail that was easy to fall in love with.
With my 7UP Love Potion complete, I was ready to finish my decorations to turn my Valentine’s Day gathering into an unforgettable event.
Don’t Forget Sweet Treats
While I wanted my 7UP Love Potion to take center stage at my Valentine’s Day gathering, I also wanted to have a little something for my guests to nosh on. Finding the perfect solution was as easy as picking up some love themed cupcakes and placing them on a cake stand. Then they went right next to my signature mocktail.
With my food and drink ready for my gathering, all that was left to do was add in my decor for a finished look that’s absolutely fabulous!
Go Over The Top with Decorations
I have never been accused of being subtle or understated when it comes to creating the perfect party look and my Valentine’s Day gathering was no exception! By quickly adding some red and pink candles, Valentine’s Day themed napkins, sparkly hearts and hanging decor, I was able to accentuate my 7UP Love Potion and pull my party together in a way that everyone was sure to love.
In my mind, there is no such thing as too much decor so I kept adding until everything felt right and I had achieved the look that I longed for.
As I stepped back to take in my Valentine’s Day spread, I was thrilled with the look I had created and I knew without a doubt that my 7UP Love Potion was going to be the star of my gathering! With its perfect taste that everyone was sure to love, I felt confident welcoming my guests and offering them a perfectly lovable drink as part of our Valentine’s Day celebration.
