The holiday season is my favorite time of the year. In addition to having more time to spend with my family since the kids are out of school and the hubs has some time off work, this time of year for me means baking, creating and filling my home with the smells of the holidays.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always known it’s the holiday by the smells that come out of the kitchen. I can think back to my own childhood when I would walk in the front door and have the scent of a deliciously warm holiday treat wrap itself around me. Those were the moments that I hold closest to my heart….when laughter and twinkling lights paired with fresh baked surprises to inform us all that the holidays had arrived.
I know that the smell of a traditional dish can tug on my heart unlike anything else, so I’ve tried to carry on this tradition of baking with my boys. While we have a variety of holiday treats that we can whip up this time of year, for as long as I can remember our most beloved holiday traditions have been creating Monkey Bread. This year, we decided to make our Monkey Bread even more amazing by using Pillsbury™ Cinnamon Rolls from Sam’s Club to create Caramel Pecan Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread!
Now, most people are familiar with Monkey Bread (it’s been a holiday tradition in my home forever) but by giving our Monkey Bread a twist, we were able to turn it into something that I know we’ll be making every Christmas for years to come! Before I get to the recipe, I want you to check out the inspiration for this fun dish which can be found here. You see, I found this recipe for Cinnamon Roll Caramel Rolls on the Sam’s Club website and it inspired me to create my Caramel Pecan Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread! After grabbing my package of Pillsbury™ Cinnamon Rolls from Sam’s Club (it’s an exclusive there ya’ll so don’t look for it anywhere else!), creating this new twist on a classic holiday morning dish was simple!
What You Will Need
2 Cans of Pillsbury™ Cinnamon Rolls from Sams’ Club
1/2 Cup of Sugar
2 Teaspoons of Cinnamon
1 Cup of Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup of Butter
1/3 Cup of Pecan Pieces
How to Make It
To start my easy Caramel Pecan Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread, I open my Pillsbury™ Cinnamon Rolls and cut them into quarters.
Once my cinnamon rolls are cut up, I add my sugar and one teaspoon of my cinnamon to a plastic bag and place my cinnamon roll pieces inside, shaking the bag gently so that the cinnamon rolls are covered in the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
With my cinnamon rolls cut up and covered in the mixture, I pull out my bundt pan and grease it lightly. Then I add half of my cinnamon roll pieces and half of my pecans, repeating the process until I have added all of my cinnamon rolls and all of my pecans to the pan.
Once my pan is full of my deliciously prepared cinnamon rolls and pecans, I quickly add my brown sugar, butter and ONE of the containers of icing from my Pillsbury™ Cinnamon Rolls to a saucepan and bring it to a full rolling boil while stirring it constantly.
As soon as my mixture begins to boil, I pour it over the top of my cinnamon roll pieces and place them in an oven preheated to 350 degrees for about thirty minutes.
Once my Caramel Pecan Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread is perfectly cooked, I remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for about ten minutes. Then I turn the pan upside down on my serving platter and out pops my Caramel Pecan Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread!
I quickly grab my second container of icing and drizzled it over the top for a finished dish that looks as good as it tasted!
All that is left to do is add it to my breakfast table and let my family pull apart pieces as they enjoy the taste of the season!
