Truth: I am beyond thrilled that the holiday season is upon us. Over the next several weeks, my home will be filled with family and friends and my kitchen will be filled with amazing dishes that satisfy everyone who walks through my door. This year, I’ve made sure I’m ready for the many friends and family who will come through my home by stocking up on essentials from Sam’s Club so that I can create easy meals, amazing side dishes and scrumptious desserts. You see, for me every part of what I serve up for the holidays matters. However, I will admit that over the years, I’ve come up with a few signature dishes that just scream the holidays for my family. While we do some of the traditional items, surprisingly one of my family’s favorite holiday sides is my Creamy Brussel Sprout Bake! While I know that brussel sprouts have been on holiday tables for years, let me tell you that this easy yet delicious bake is not your traditional brussel sprouts that are always the last thing to disappear! In fact, whether served up for family gatherings or fun parties during the holiday season, our Creamy Brussel Sprout Bake is a perfect side for any festive meal!
Now, it’s only fair to tell you that I’ve been serving up brussel sprouts on the holidays for as long as I can remember. While some people have a tradition of pecan pies or a perfectly cooked ham, for me it’s brussel sprouts. In fact, they are one of my favorite veggies! However, the rest of my family doesn’t love them as much as I do…or at least they didn’t until I used them in my amazingly delicious Creamy Brussel Sprout Bake! What You Will Need
4 Cups of Whole Fresh Brussel Sprouts
1 Cup of Swanson® Chicken Broth
2 Cans of Campbell’s® Condensed Cream of Mushroom
1 Cup of Freshly Sliced Mushrooms
1/2 Cup of Diced Sweet Onion
4 Ounces of Light Cream Cheese
4-5 Pieces of Bacon (to crumble over the top)
How to Make It
This easy holiday side pairs PERFECTLY with any number of items to take our holiday meal to a whole new level! And the best part is, it’s crazy easy to make! To start, I washed my brussel sprouts and cut off the ends of them.
Then I quickly added them to a pan on the stove with my Swanson® Chicken Broth, cooking them on medium-high, just until they started to soften.
I have to say, since I only use one cup on my broth in this recipe, I love that the Swanson® Chicken Broth package is resealable, ensuring that I have no waste and can easily save the remainder of my broth for the next time I make this dish! The addition of America’s #1 selling broth that is 100% natural and has nothing artificial added is the perfect way to flavor my brussel sprouts to perfection while cooking them. Since obviously brussel sprouts take much longer to cook than mushrooms and onions, I let my brussel sprouts cook in my Swanson® Chicken Broth for about eight minutes until they start to soften and have soaked in the unmatched taste of Swanson® Chicken Broth. Then I immediately poured in my mushrooms and onions, stirring them constantly and cooking them in the broth and brussel sprouts mixture until all my veggies were slightly tender.
Trust me when I say this combination is the starting point of something uh-mazing! Once my brussel sprouts, mushrooms and onions were cooked to perfection (about 12 minutes total – 8 for the brussel sprouts and 4 more after adding the mushrooms and onions), I opened up my cans of Campbell’s® Condensed Cream of Mushroom soup. With no artificial flavors or preservatives, this is the perfect soup to make my Creamy Brussel Sprout Bake absolutely delicious! After pouring it into my mixture, I added in my cream cheese and stirred everything together over medium heat just long enough for all the ingredients to blend together.
I immediately poured my mixture into a casserole dish and baked it on 375 for twenty to twenty-five minutes, until it was warm and bubbly and perfectly ready to serve.
Then I removed it from the oven, topped it with sprinkles of bacon and placed it on my holiday table for my entire family to enjoy!
