How to Make It
You’re going to love how easy this Instant Pot Chicken Lo Mein is to make! To start, I placed my chicken, oil, garlic and onion into the instant pot and sauteed the mixture until the chicken was brown.
Once my chicken was cooked, I poured in my soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, cabbage, carrots, mushrooms and water.
With the majority of my ingredients in my Instant Pot, I added my noodles and made sure that they were covered in liquid.
Then all that I had to do was let the Instant Pot do it’s magic! After placing the lid on and sealing it, I closed the pressure release valve and set the Instant Pot to manual, high pressure for five minutes. Once the cooking cycle was complete, I quick released the steam and opened the pot to reveal my perfectly cooked Instant Pot Chicken Lo Mein! After giving it a quick stir, I plated my easy meal and topped it with sliced green onions for a dinner that is sure to satisfy!

Oh I am sharing this in an Instant Pot group I am in! This would be a family favorite here!
One of my favorite meals. Doing prep ahead saves time. No instanta pot we can still make it.
Love my Instant Pot and I am having so much fun trying out new recipes and it amazes me there are so many recipes to try. Hoisun sauce is my favorite flavor addition when preparing Asian inspired dishes. The sauce is so full of flavor.
The instant pot is amazing. I need to get one now and make things in such fast order. This lo mein recipe looks great and just one of the great recipes I have missed
I don’t have an Instant Pot, but I love chicken lo mein! I’ll have to give your version a try, sans the Instant Pot. 😉
This sounds like such a delicious recipe! I will admit that I’m still a crock pot girl over here, but I love the time saving capabilities that the instant pot offers.

It looks delicious and flavorful! Would be a great dinner this week!
Looks so amazing! I love noodle! I bought my instant pot 2 years ago but haven’t used it yet.
take it out and use it. you will NOT be sorry. My kid’s got me one for X-Mas last year and I absolutely love it.
Oh wow. I would have never imagined making lo mein in the instant pot! This is one recipe I should try! We love stir-fried noodle dishes and making it in an instant pot is quicker and with less oil too.
I have always found cooking Asian dishes a little daunting. You make it seem easy and something i would like to try. This noodle dish sounds so good!
I am salivating! This is our go-to noodle dish not only when my mom and I are craving for it but whenever we have the chance to cook it. It looks so appealing and appetizing. The ingredients included will certainly make this more flavorful.
We too are staunch supporters of instant pot dishes. It is so much faster and convenient. We do a lot of rice and noodle recipes. Of course being vegetarians, we will try out this recipe minus the chicken, with a vegetarian substitute.
I have never tried making lo mien with mushroom, that’s a great idea and added flavor. I will definitely try it next time.
Oh this would be a great dinner option! We just got an instant pot and I am still figuring out all of the meal options I can make in it. Thanks for this idea!
That looks absolutely amazing. My stomach is growling just looking at your pictures. I love noodles so this is a definite yes from me!!
Now this low main I can make. I will remove the chicken for me. No more take out after this.
I tried this and doubled the recipe because I have teenage boys that eat a lot and we love leftovers. HOWEVER…it was so strong, no one could eat it. I double checked the recipe to make sure I did everything right but I guess you aren’t supposed to double the soy or hoisen. Also, being a first time noodle cooker with the instant pot, I should’ve stirred it better because I had clusters of noodles stuck together, uncooked. Practice makes perfect. I will try this one again.
If I were going to double the recipe I would increase the spiced by 1.5 instead of doubling them. Some of these things (like the soy and hoisen) can go from delicious to strong really quickly! If you even have that problem again, add a few more noodles and some more protein and I think it would help balance things out.
I agree, we just made this and it was a bit strong. We all ate and enjoyed it, but next time I’ll cut the soy sauce and hoison sauce in half. Loved how quick this was though and look forward to figuring out the best combination for us.
I would like to make this but was wondering if you could use some chicken broth in place of the amount of soy sauce ? and If i doubled it would i double everything?
I have not personally tried it that way but I can’t see why it wouldn’t work. You might need to use a little corn starch to keep the substitution from making it runny but give it a try and let me know how it turns out!
A suggestion: I’m making this now and I’m sure it will be great. I was wondering if you could make the recipe presentation a bit more user friendly. It would be nice to print out the recipe without having to print the whole article. Thanks for the recipe.
Thank you for the suggestion! I recently added a recipe plugin and will work on getting this converted for ease.
Lo mein is my favourite dish. This was very delicious. Thanks.
Jeannette, thank you very much! I like this chicken! Wonderful combination of ingredients. It look so yummy!
Jeannette, this was wonderful! Never knew that those flavors would come out as they did in this beautiful dish! Follow the recipe word for word!!!
Jeannette, it was delicious and easy to prepare! Thank you, it’s very delicious!
I will try this. Any suggestions on how to double it and adding broccoli and shrimp to it? Love my instant pot, but still a newbie!
Made this and it was tasty, but I felt like the soy sauce was too overpowering. My kids said it was too salty. Will remake, but will cut the soy sauce and hoisin sauce in half. And I’ll probably increase the veggies.
Thanks for sharing! This was delicious!
The sauce was way too salty but the noodles came out cooked well. I will use this as a base recipe with a different sauce going forward. Thanks!
Thank you, it’s very delicious!
