It’s no secret that I’m trying to lose weight and get back in shape. Last week I shared with you some of the factors that have contributed to my weight gain. I also shared that I’ve embarked on a journey to lose the weight, get back in shape and rediscover the me that I want to be. Over the last week, I’ve been making major changes in my daily life. I’ve completely changed the way I’m eating (more on that on Friday). I’ve switched out sodas for water. And perhaps most importantly for me, I’ve recommitted myself to exercise. You see, I don’t really mind exercise but often, it just doesn’t fit into my busy lifestyle. As most of you know, I work from home, I juggle two kids at two different school and I try to stay on top of everything around the house. Truthfully, most days that doesn’t leave much time for me. I can’t tell the kids that I won’t help with homework or tell a client that I can’t take a calls simply because I want to have time for exercise. And in truth, generally by the time everything is done and everyone is taken care of, it’s dark and I don’t have the motivation to go out walking to to the gym. So, now that I’ve recommitted to making exercise a priority, I’m having to get creative. Yes, I am trying to find ways to make more time for actually getting out and getting exercise. But more importantly, I’ve discovered the secret to easy ways for busy moms to exercise at home.
As a work-from-home mom, truth of the matter is that I end up sitting a lot….in front of my computer while I’m working, at the table while I’m helping the kids with homework, even on the couch while I watch a TV show with the hubs at night. While I do have a goal of reducing the time that I sit each day, as I thought through my ways to improve my wellness with my current lifestyle, it became very clear that I needed to find a way to make more of my time sitting. After doing a little research and talking to Sarah at Cubii, the solution to my problem quickly became apparent. That means more calories burned, better health and overall, the ability to work towards my weight loss goals without having to feel like I’m sacrificing parts of my day.
In fact, with the ability to change resistance levels and speed up or slow down to accomplish more rotations per minute, I’m being able to burn up to 800 extra calories a day just by using my Cubii intermittenly throughout the day. While I am making an effort to sit less, I’m making even more of an effort to make the time that I have to be sitting matter more!
For me, using my Cubii Under Desk Elliptical and making more of the time I spend sitting is making a huge difference. I feel better. I’m dropping weight. And at the end of the day, I don’t feel guilty about the fact that I didn’t get all of my exercise in. Instead, I feel like while I may have killed it at work and as a mom, I didn’t neglect myself either.
