Now that summer is here and the kids are out of school, life has settled down a little bit as far as activities and always being on the go. I’ve replaced that days of school activities with lazy days by the pool and afternoons spent giggling with friends. One of my favorite things about summer is that the distractions of the school year fade away and it’s much easier to pack up the kids, grab my mom friends (who just happen to be my own mom and sister-in-law) and head out for a fun getaway to the beach. While the days at the beach are filled with play and fun, the evenings are filled with laughter and conversations, which is exactly what my mama heart needs to refuel and recharge. Since it’s pretty much a fact of life that as a mom I’m never going anywhere without the kids (at least for 18 years), I’ve put together my tips on how to plan the Perfect Mom’s Weekend Away (with kids)!
Now, like I said, a weekend away for a mom doesn’t necessarily mean a weekend without kids. In fact, my mom, sister-in-law and I plan weeks away with all the kids because that means that the days are full of family fun and the evenings are full of laughter. It’s the most amazing time ever filled with movies, wine and laughing till our sides hurt. I recently was able to get away for a few days with my mom and sister-in-law for a multi-generational moms getaway and I want to share with you exactly how we made it unforgettable.
Find the Perfect Location
Now, if you happen to be within driving (or even flying) distance of the beach, I highly recommend this location for the perfect mom’s weekend away. There is just something about sea air, days spent in the sand and nights under the stars that make for a perfect time away. Even if the beach is not an option for your mom’s weekend away, look for a location that offers a variety of (hopefully tiring) activities for kids during the day and a perfect place to relax at night.
Play Hard During the Day
Once you’ve found the perfect location, your goal during the day should be to tire out those kiddos! I know it means less down time for you but trust me when I say it will be worth it (read on to find out how). Spend the day swimming and biking and exploring and LIMIT THOSE NAPS! That way, when bed time rolls around (at like 8pm…..or 6, whatever!) the kids will be tired and ready to zonk out for the night. Once they are snugly tucked into bed with the fear of God put into them if they get up, it’s mama time!
Be Prepared to Laugh Till You Pee with Poise®
Now, I don’t know about you guys but I love nothing more than talking about silly subjects and how unexpected life is with my mom and sister-in-law. We share stories. We watch chick flicks that we would never get to watch at home. We drink wine. On my most recent trip, what started as a movie night quickly turned into a giggle fest that resulted in tears streaming down our faces and some unexpectedly blunt conversations about light bladder leakage. You see, we started the night with a movie about older women and younger men (we had no idea what it was about going into it). Since my mom is currently dating and going through the whole men are awesome stage, this quickly turned into a giggle fest about all the things that happen when you’re dating, let’s call it later in life. Somehow, during the conversation, phones got brought out and texts to her boyfriend got sent….by all of us. Sitting here and giving you a play by play wouldn’t really do much because I’m sure it was much funnier to us in the moment that it is in recap but I kid you not, we were laughing so hard that our sides hurt. Then the tears started as we couldn’t get the giggles under control! My sister-in-law kept grabbing the phone and sending texts to mom’s boyfriend that were really inside jokes but his (somewhat clueless since he wasn’t there) responses had us all in stitches! As we laughed and laughed and laughed, suddenly there was more than tears leaking out if you know what I mean.
Now, just in case you’ve never laughed till you pee, let me just say that…..I highly recommend it. While carrying HUGE babies (all three of us grew them big ya’ll) definitely contributes to light bladder leakage while laughing, there is something about laughing so hard that you basically lose control that’s just healing. So, since I’ve admitted that we laughed till we peed (which often happens when we’re all together), it’s important for me to have Poise® Pads with ContourFIT Design packed for my mom’s weekends away.
With their trusted 3-in-1 protection for dryness, comfort and odor control, Poise® Pads with ContourFIT Design are softly curved in the middle to better fit your curves and are wider in the front and back for coverage and protection for heavier bladder leaks. While they are comfortable enough to wear every day, I reserve them for those mom’s nights when I know that we’ll be up late giggling till we pee.
I’m so thankful that I’ve got mom friends who I can laugh so hard with but I’m even more thankful that since we’re a multi-generational group, we can talk about the the unexpected reprecussions of laughing so hard that it causes us to, um, leak! After all, we’ll all need those moments when we giggle till we lose control and I’m thankful that during them, we have the power of Poise® Pads to make even light bladder leakage something worth laughing about.
Whether you laugh till you pee like we do, have LBL when you exercise or sneeze or just want the assurance that if you ever become one of the 1 in 3 women who have light bladder leakage, you’ll have comfortable and discreet protection on hand, it’s time for you to discover Poise® Pads with CoutourFIT! You can pick them up by visiting Walmart today or using the online grocery pickup!
Now tell me, have you ever laughed so hard that you’ve leaked?
