I’m having a hard time believing that it’s time to be knee deep in back-to-school preparation but the truth is, the time is here. Both of my boys have a little over a week of summer left and so we are planning, prepping and purchasing everything they both need to have a successful start of the school year. For my littlest, it’s easy! A little Tom’s of Maine Silly Strawberry™ Anticavity Children’s Toothpaste, a new backpack and some shoes and he’s ready to go. My teenager however is another story. He’s going into his sophomore year of high school and while learning is important, sports are life for him. He plays basketball year round and while he’s mildly concerned with making sure his locker is stocked for back-to-school success, he’s much more concerned with making sure his sports bag is ready. That’s why this year I’m including switching up some of his sports essentials as part of my back-to-school prep. The best part is, by making this simple change, I’m supporting an initiative that is working to make sure all kids have what they need for back-to-school season (more on that later). If you’ve got a teenager who is extra active, read on to ensure you’ve got everything you need for when they head back into the classroom AND the gym and find out about the Tom’s of Maine “Backpacks Full of Good” program!
Now, I’ve shared with you in the past how my family is making the switch to more natural products. While I won’t say we’re totally changed over yet, I’m gradually replacing everyday essentials we previously used with natural Tom’s of Maine products. A few months ago, I shared how I’ve been teaching my littlest everyday ways to conserve while switching out his toothpaste for Tom’s of Maine. I’ve also made the switch myself and transitioned to natural toiletries that I can feel great about using on a daily basis.
So, as I prepared for back-to-school and started looking at stocking up on back-to-school sports bag essentials for my teen, it only made sense that I turned to Tom’s of Maine for products that keep him feeling fresh even after the hardest workout and that I can feel great about including in his sports bag.
As I pulled out items to fill his sports bag with, I included all the regular suspects but instead of grabbing whatever was in his cabinet, I cleaned all his old products out and replaced them with the natural Tom’s of Maine products that I feel great about him using. In the end, his bag included the following:
- A Towel
- Change of Clothes
- Sports Shoes
- Extra Socks
- Water Bottle
- Small Laundry Bag
- Tom’s of Maine Body Wash
- Tom’s of Maine Soap
- Tom’s of Maine Men’s Deodorant
To start, I included natural switches like offering him the Tom’s of Maine Men’s Long Lasting Wide Stick Deodorant that’s aluminum free and the Tom’s of Maine Body Wash and Beauty Bar that are dermatologist tested and always free of colors, fragrances and preservatives. I incorporated them in with the products that I know he needs for back-to-school sports success so that I feel like he’s prepared to hit the gym when school starts back. Adding these products to his bag also help me feel great about the fact that he’ll be using natural Tom’s of Maine products to wash away his workouts. For me, that means that he’s using products that don’t have all the extras that can harm him and instead boast only the most natural ingredients that I can feel good about him putting on his body.
Just as I’m making sure that my teen is prepared for back-to-school success, in the classroom and the gym, with help from Tom’s of Maine, I ‘m a firm believer that every child deserves a happy and productive school year. However, I know that my son is fortunate that I can go out and stock up on everything he needs and I fully realize that not every family has the ability to do this and ensure that their child has the necessary back-to-school gear they need. The fact that Tom’s of Maine is teaming up with The Kids in Need Foundation to donate 10,0000 “Backpacks for Good” to students nationwide who are in need is just another reason why I’ll ensure that this year, my family continues to use Tom’s of Maine products.
So, how does this program work? It’s actually amazingly easy and effective! Through this partnership between Tom’s of Maine and The Kids in Need Foundation, colorful and durable backpacks filled with essential supplies such as pens, markers, glue sticks and more will be donated to children who need to them to be back-to-school ready. As an added bonus, there will be samples of the Tom’s of Maine Silly Strawberry™ Anticavity Children’s Toothpaste inside to ensure that the smiles these backpacks bring to these children’s faces will stay bright! While I know that these backpacks are going to make back-to-school an amazing time for so many children, just like Tom’s of Maine I acknowledge that a few encouraging words for the school year can make a big difference in a child’s life.
That’s why now through August 19th, 2018 you and your family can visit https://www.tomsofmaine.com/backtoschool to submit a personalized letter wishing a student in need good luck in the new school year. The letter will be included in the backpack full of supplies they receive and is a perfect way to encourage a child who may need a few special words as a new school year starts.
While I fully encourage you to include Tom’s of Maine in your back-to-school prep, I even more strongly encourage you to be a part of this movement and submit your letter for a student in need today.
Then, as you prepare yourself, your kids and even your spouse for a new school year, be sure to support a brand that naturally gives back while providing superior products that your entire family can feel great about using. This back-to-school initiative of “Backpacks for Good” is just one example of Tom’s of Maine commitment to supporting communities and a part of the way in which they give 10% of their profits back to helping people and the planet. It’s just another reason why Tom’s of Maine is the naturally right choice for my family!
Now tell me, how are you preparing your kids for a naturally amazing school year with help from Tom’s of Maine?
