With football season winding down, those of us who are die-hard football fans are planning away for the biggest game of the year. I myself have been in the kitchen trying out recipes and coming up with tasty finger foods that are fan approved. While I usually serve up a platter of seven layer dip along with a ton of chips for dipping, this year I decided to make things a little more fun by stuffing the chips with the dip. Confused? Don’t worry! Read on to find out how to make these seven layer dip cups that are chips and seven layer dip all rolled up into one delicious game day dish!
I won’t lie….when it’s game time, I’m a grab and go and eat as I watch type of girl. I don’t want to have to hang out near the chip bowl and I want to be able to enjoy my finger foods without having to reach and dip and reach for more. That’s why this year I decided to serve up my game day favorite seven layer dip in crispy wonton cups for an finger food that definitely has everyone cheering. Here’s how to make them.
- 24 wonton wrappers
- Cooking spray
- ½ cup of refried beans
- ½ cup of sour cream
- 1 tablespoon of taco seasoning
- ½ cup of guacamole
- ½ cup of pico de gallo
- ½ cup of shredded cheese
- ⅓ cup of sliced black olives
- Green onions
- Spray a cupcake pan with cooking spray and then place two wonton wrappers into each opening, pushing them down to make a cup.
- Spray the top of the wonton wrappers and bake at 350 degrees for 7 minutes or until they are crispy.
- Remove the wonton cups from the oven.
- Mix together the sour cream and taco seasoning.
- Layer in the refried beans, sour cream mixture, guacamole, pico de gallo and shredded cheese.
- Top with black olives and green onions and serve immediately.
These fun and easy seven layer dip cups are so easy to make and they are sure to be a game day favorite. To start, I added two wonton wrappers to each of the cupcake molds, pushing them down into the bottom to form a cup shape.
Once I had sprayed the wonton wrappers with cooking spray, I popped them in the oven and cooked them on 350 degrees for 7 minutes or until the edges turned brown. As soon as they were brown and crispy, I removed them from the oven, popped them out of the cupcake molds and allowed them to cool completely.
While my wonton cups were cooling, I added my sour cream and taco seasoning to a bowl and combined it well.
Then I simply stared layering the components of my seven layer dip into each of the wonton cups. *Note: You can leave out any of the layers you want to and still have an amazing appetizer.* I started by adding my refried beans to the bottom of each of the wonton cups.
Next, my sour cream mixture and guacamole were layered on top of the refried beans.
I topped my guacamole with fresh pico de gallo.
Finally I sprinkled on my cheese and added my black olives and green onions to complete my seven layer dip cups and the finished product looked amazing!
These fun seven layer dip cups are perfect finger food and are bursting with flavor, making them the natural choice for any game day celebration.
Even better, when you bite into one of the seven layer dip cups, you get a combination of flavors and crunch in every bite that is definitely fan approved.

That is the most ingenious appetizer I’ve ever seen! It’s dip and the chip all in one bite. I love it!
I’ve always loved layered dips like this. I’ve never thought to use wonton cups. It makes it so much easier to serve. I’m so using your recipe and serving these at my Super Bowl party.

This would be the perfect game day appetizer and you wouldn’t have to worry about tortilla chips since the wonton cups would give that crunch we all love. I make mini cheesecakes and mini quiches using wonton wrappers so we have a pack or two in the freezer

These are cute! I think this is a great way to serve layer dip, otherwise it can turn into a mess. I’ll have to save your recipe for when we are entertaining.

I am having a small get together and was going to do the normal stuff (which means order something that I don’t have to fix) but I think I will try my hand at cooking a few things this year. This may be one of them.
