I am shocked by how quickly the school year has gone by and amazed that it’s time to start thinking about summer, which in my home means firing up the grill, getting the family together and connecting over yummy food as the warm days pass us by. I’ll fully admit that we are a grilling family. Pretty much as soon as we can dust the snow off the grill we start using it regularly but once it really gets warm? Well, at that point mama says goodbye to the stove and we grill away the summer days. For all of you who are ready to fire up the grill and start making the most of warm evenings spent with family and friends, we’ve got some easy summer grilling tips and ideas to help you cook out with ease in the coming months.
My family has run the gamut when it comes to grilling. Over the years we’ve used charcoal grills and gas grills. Heck, we’ve even gotten our grill on over the fire pit in the back yard that one time that we were between grills. For us, grilling is just a way of life and it’s a delicious shared love of our entire family. That’s why it will never surprise anyone who knows us to find us on the porch (we had a special grilling area and bar created outdoors) with the grill going and the smell of delicious food filling the air. Since I know for a fact that my hubby is the grill master (seriously, give that man a grill and something to cook and you can guarantee it’s gonna be dang good!) and I’m pretty sure that I’m the queen of preparation, together we’ve found the perfect summer grilling tips to ensure success over the years. Truthfully, it’s a simple little dance that we’ve mastered as a pair and I’m excited to share all of our secrets because, well, everyone should be getting their grill on this time of the year. So, what have we learned about grilling that ensures success every time and helps bring family and friends together in the most delicious ways? I’m so glad you asked because truthfully, it boils down to a few simple summer grilling tips.
Start with Quality Products from Sam’s Club
One thing I know is that when it comes to putting together a cookout that really sizzles, it’s all about the meats. I mean, think about it. From the moment the grill is fired up everything revolves around what’s cooking and the savory smells that are filling the air. For my family, stocking up on Ball Park® Beef Franks and Tyson® Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts from Sam’s Club ensures that whenever we decide to fire up the grill, we have the perfect meats to put on it that are always delicious. So, when we could buy our protein options anywhere why do we shop Sam’s Club you ask? Well, it’s quite simple actually. With my three guys, my son’s teenage friends, the neighbors and family always around, it only makes sense for me to stock up on these high-quality products at great prices. I can get 24 Ball Park Beef Franks (find them in the refrigerated section) or 10 pounds of Tyson Boneless Chicken Breasts (find them in the freezer section) to ensure that whether we’re grilling for our family of four or the whole neighborhood, we never have to worry about running out of food. These club size packs are not only perfectly convenient, but they guarantee that I can always be prepared to serve up high-quality products to as many or as few guests as show up.
While I always stock up at Sam’s because of the amazing prices and club pack sizes, right now is literally the best time for those who love to grill out to head into the club because from May 8th – June 2nd, 2019 Ball Park Hot Dogs will be on instant savings for $1.50 off! That means grilling out planners like me can ensure that all season long the fridge is stocked and ready for any number of celebrations.
Give Classic Grilled Dishes a Fun Twist
Once I’ve stocked my refrigerator and freezer with Ball Park Beef Franks and Tyson Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts from Sam’s Club, throwing together a big (or small) gathering with food that’s sure to satisfy is simple. It’s no secret that I think variety is the spice of life and with my refrigerator and freezer stocked with these cookout staples, putting together a truly amazing meal on the grill is simple! I like to go with a mixture of classic and bold options to ensure that no matter how my guests are feeling, there’s food to fit their mood. Of course, I do regular old fashioned grilled dogs with mustard and mayo (you can’t go wrong there!). But I don’t stop there, I also get the hubs to throw some chicken on the grill and baste it with tangy barbeque sauce cause it’s just, yum! But truly, my pièce de résistance so to speak when it comes to grilling out are my Cheese Stuffed Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs and they are SO simple to make!
- 12 Ball Park Beef Franks
- 12½ inch thick slices of cheddar cheese
- 12 pieces of bacon
- Cut a slice down the middle of each Ball Park Beef Frank, only cutting about half way into it.
- Push the piece of cheddar cheese down in the opening.
- Wrap a piece of bacon around the hot dog, securing the ends by tucking them under.
- Grill for three minutes on each side on medium heat.
- Serve on a bun with wasabi slaw.
These Cheese Stuffed Bacon Wrapped Ball Park Beef Franks are a delicious addition to any cookout and they’re kinda impressive when you’re wanting to show off for the neighbors. To make them, I simply cut a slice into each of my Ball Park Beef Franks, only cutting about half way through the hot dog. After slicing up a 1/2 inch thick slice of cheddar cheese that is approximately the length of my hot dog, I simply push the cheese down into the opening.
Next, it’s time to wrap some bacon around everything to keep it all together while grilling.
With this easy twist ready to add to the grill, I call the hubs down to take on his duties and watch as he first adds the chicken, then the Cheese stuffed Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs, then the regular hot dogs to the grill (this is the order it has to be done in order for everything to be cooked at the same time).
While I sit back and watch (my work is done at this point), he grills our way to the perfect cookout menu by turning the chicken, brushing it with barbecue sauce and gently rolling each of the Ball Park Beef Franks so that they get those perfect grill marks that I love so much.
When all of the food is just about done, I lay out our cookout spread that includes hot dog buns for both types of hot dogs, hamburger buns for the chicken, fresh wasabi slaw, grilled veggies and chips. It’s a cookout feast that really shines thanks to the quality of its star ingredients from Sam’s Club.
Once everything is displayed to perfection (and I do dare you not to drool over this perfect cookout spread), it’s time to….
Take Time to Create Tasty Memories
While the food is truly the star of this cookout feast that’s perfect for family and friends, it’s the traditions and memories that it helps to establish that really matter most to me. While some people may just see a summer spread that’s certainly delicious, I see a meal that brings family and friends together in the most delicious ways.
As everyone takes their turn filling their plate with classic hot dogs, barbecue chicken sandwiches and of course the cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped hot dogs, memories are made.
While the food brings all of us together, it’s what happens when the perfect grilled meal is set in front of my family that’s truly magical. There is laughter. There are conversations uttered though mouths that are full of delicious food. And there are memories in every bite.
This is what grilling out is all about. These are the moments that taste like summer. These are times I will always treasure. And they started with a trip to Sam’s Club for the perfect ingredients for this unforgettable summer grilling gathering.
