Plan a Cookout
There is no better way to end the summer than how we’ve spent it… with tasty cookouts that are perfect for enjoying as a family and even better for sharing with friends. Whether you’ll be celebrating the end-of-summer with a few people or tons of people, fire up the grill, throw on some burgers and dogs and invite everyone to make their meal their own! Now that you’ve decided to throw an end-of-summer cookout (cause I know you have), you might be wondering how to make it unforgettable and well, it’s easy using more of my tips on how to plan the perfect end-of-summer cookout.
Serve Up A Burger Bar
I’m a big believer in planning events that satisfy all of my guests. I know that everyone’s topping preferences differ. I know that some people like buns, while others like lettuce. The best way for me to ensure that everyone gets the exact meal they want, is to serve up a burger bar. All it requires is laying out buns, coming up with tons of toppings and then letting everyone choose what makes their burger perfect.
Some fun ideas to include in your burger bar are:
- Tillamook Farmstyle Thick Cut Sharp Cheddar Cheese Slices or Shreds
- Grilled Onions
- BBQ Sauce
- Pimento Cheese
Once you’ve laid out all the toppings, everyone is able to grab a bun, add their burger patty, and then top it with their favorite toppings so that they end the summer in a most delicious way.
As an added bonus, you can even add hotdogs to your burger bar knowing that the same toppings will make them delicious!
Create a Signature Burger
While creating a burger bar where everyone can grab their favorite toppings is a simple and delicious way to celebrate the end-of-summer, I like to take things one step further by creating a signature burger recipe for my guests to enjoy. In my experience, everyone always wants the creation that I concoct so, this year, as I planned my end-of-summer celebration, I decided to up the flavor by making Loaded BBQ Cheeseburgers.
These Loaded BBQ Cheeseburgers can be pre-assembled or created as part of the previously mentioned burger bar idea. Whether you’re a grill-master or a novice, let me show you exactly how to make these Loaded BBQ Cheeseburgers!
- 8 burger buns
- 2 pounds of ground hamburger meat
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon of Mesquite BBQ Sauce
- ½ teaspoon of sea salt
- 8 slices of Tillamook Farmstyle Thick Cut Sharp Cheddar Cheese Slices
- 16 slices of bacon (cooked)
- 2 large onions
- Add the Worcestershire sauce, BBQ sauce and sea salt to the hamburger meat and combine well.
- Divide into eight patties.
- Slice onions into thick slices.
- Grill sliced onions for 2 minutes on each side. Remove and set aside.
- Grill burgers at 400 degrees for 5 minutes on each side or until internal temperature is 160 degrees.
- Add one slice of Tillamook Farmstyle Thick Cut Sharp Cheddar Cheese to each burger and melt.
- Slice burger bun and add a piece of lettuce and a cheeseburger patty.
- Top with a grilled onion.
- Drizzle BBQ sauce over the top.
- Add bacon and tomato.
These Loaded BBQ Cheeseburgers are so easy to make and SO delicious! They taste like summer ya’ll and are perfect for our end-of-summer cookouts. To start, I sliced my onions and grilled them for 2 minutes on each side. Then I set them aside and got to work on my hamburger patties. To make my patties, I added my hamburger meat, Worcestershire sauce, BBQ sauce and sea salt to a bowl and combined it well. Then I divided my burger into eight equal patties and placed them on a grill that was preheated to 400 degrees. After cooking them for about five minutes on each side (use a meat thermometer to get an internal temperature of 160 degrees), I added a slice of Tillamook Farmstyle Thick Cut Sharp Cheddar Cheese to each burger.
I love that Tillamook Farmstyle Thick Cut Sharp Cheddar Cheese has been aged nine months to give it just the right amount of sharpness and since the slices and shreds are farmstyle, they are thicker so that my burgers are really cheesy and really delicious.
Once my cheese was melted, I was ready to assemble my burger. I opened my buns and placed a piece of lettuce on the bottom and a cooked cheeseburger patty on top of it.
Can we just take a minute to look at that perfectly cooked cheese and drool for a second? Once my cheeseburger patty was in place, I added a slice of grilled onion and drizzled more BBQ sauce over the top.
I then finished off my Loaded BBQ Cheeseburgers with slices of bacon and a fresh tomato for a taste that’s seriously as amazing as the summer has been.
This is a burger-lover’s burger in every way and let me just tell you, the Tillamook Farmstyle Thick Cut Sharp Cheddar Cheese slices takes what would be a good burger and makes it great. Everyone loves this signature burger recipe and if you’re looking for a taste that’s as big as your summer memories, I highly encourage you to serve up this dish at your end-of-summer celebration!
