With Easter on it’s way, I’ve been flexing my crafting muscles and coming up with some fun ideas for simple decor. Now, most of you know that I moved out into the woods a few years ago so there is no shortage of limbs around my house. But recently, when one of our pine trees feel, I discovered that the fallen wood is perfect for creating a simple DIY Rustic Wooden Bunny!
Now, I had to enlist the hubby’s help on this craft because let’s face it, I’m just not a chain saw type of woman. But with his manpower and my creativity we were able to put together this simple DIY Rustic Wooden Bunny that is pretty much the perfect Easter craft!
To start, we assessed our fallen tree and found different sized branches. As most of you know, a tree branch gets skinnier toward the end. So, we cut two disks out of the skinniest part of the branch, one disk out of the middle of the branch and one disk out of the fattest part of the branch.
Then we took the middle to skinny part and made horizontal cuts to create two disks to act as ears.
Once we had cut all of the pieces of our DIY Rustic Bunny Craft, I laid them out and let them dry overnight.
Once they had sat overnight, it was time to assemble our DIY Rustic Bunny Craft. Using wood glue, I attached the middle sized disk to the largest disk, overlapping it slightly.
Next, I glued on the two smallest disks to create feet at the bottom of my largest disk.
Finally, I took the two pieces of horizontal wood we had cut and glued them behind the middle sized disk so that they would stick out like ears.
After allowing all the pieces of our DIY Rustic Bunny Craft to dry, I rummaged around the house and found some long black twist ties (I think they came on our Christmas lights but you could easily find some at the craft or hardware store).
Using glue, I attached three of the twist ties to my bunny face with hot glue to make whiskers.
Once again, I let our craft dry and then, as a finishing touch, I cut a wooden disk into fourths and used one forth of it to create a stand.
Once my DIY Rustic Wooden Bunny was complete, I was thrilled with the end result.
Our cute little DIY Rustic Bunny Craft was absolute perfection for displaying inside or outdoors.
And the best part was, with plenty of wood around our home, I can make them for us or give them as a creative, homemade Easter craft that friends and family are sure to adore!
Now it’s your turn! Head out in your backyard or head to the craft store where you can buy pre-cut disks of wood and them put together this fun DIY Rustic Bunny Craft for yourself! Happy crafting!
OMG that is seriously ADORABLE!!! I am definitley not able to make one, but I would definitely buy one 🙂
You’d be surprised at how easy it was to make…a few pieces from the craft store or a chain saw is really all you need!
That is so super cute! Of course, the first thing I think of is Easter, but this would make a great year round decoration.
I need one of these. Time to get my husband out to the wood pile with the chainsaw. Too cute.
What a fun idea! I’m going to show this to my Dad, he’s been getting into wood crafts, this would be a great one.

That’s a very cute idea! I love that! So much you can do with the things around us in nature. I was laughing when they were selling pinecones at Michaels the other day. I thought huh, I can just go in my back yard and pick all the pinecones I want without buying them. Great use of the materials around you.
That is an absolutely adorable! This would be a perfect gift for Easter; it’s really easy to put together.

I have to make one if these! It will look great in my garden this summer. I have enough wood to make a few.
That looks like something that you would see in a craft shop for sale. I like it. It would be cute sitting around outside our house.
Still early for Easter but I will take note of this because I can refer to this for my daughter’s school projects. Cute!

This is such a cute idea! I would love to make a few of these for our yard, too!
This is a really cute and unique kind of lawn decoration. I’d almost be tempted to paint it, but I think that the fact that it isn’t painted is kind of perfect.
This is completely adorable. I love that you used wood from the fallen pine tree, a great way to repurpose things vs buying wood from a home improvement, lumber or craft store.
