Two years ago, on January 3rd, my world as I knew it changed. I walked into a job that I loved only to be told that our contract had ended. I started that morning off thinking that 2010 was going to be the best year ever and went to sleep thinking that 2010 might just be the worst. But as I sit here today and think back on the two years since then, I know that both of my thoughts were true - both for 2010 and 2011. Because the last two years have been full of unexpected joy, heartbreak and changes. So, as I start off a new year, here’s a look back at all the changes that have entered my life in the past two year and a little peek at all I’ve learned from the changes!
In 2010, I said goodbye to a job that I loved. Little did I know that this ending was the beginning of a whole new journey.
In 2010, I said hello to full time mommyhood and all the joys that it brings. Little did I know how much this assignment would change my life.
In 2010, I watched the hubs change jobs unexpectedly. Little did I know that this would change the direction of our lives.
In 2010, I said hello to a sweet baby boy. Little did I know that he would completely change all of my hopes and dreams.
In 2010, we became a family of 4. Little did I know that this was exactly what we needed to be complete.
In 2011, I broke my ankle when my baby was 6 weeks old and spent 2 months on crutches. Little did I know that this would afford me time with family that I would later cherish.
In 2011, I began a new journey called The Adventures of J-Man and MillerBug. Little did I know that this journey would bring friends into my life that I will treasure forever and initiate me into a community of women (and men) who would become a second family to me.
In 2011, I discovered that there is so much more to motherhood than I thought. Little did I know that the hardest job title I would ever hold is MOM.
In 2011, the hubs went back to school. Little did I know that his growth would encourage me to reach for the stars in my own life.
In 2011, I said goodbye to my dad. Little did I know that his life would continue to completely change mine - even after he was gone.
Now as I look back at it all in 2012, I’m amazed at how much has changed. At how different life is. I’ve learned so many lessons. Laughed at so many happy times. And cried so many tears.
But here is the thing that I will take with me as I look back at the last two years:
Our paths are never what we expect them to be. Our plans never take us where we expect them to.
But that is LIFE.
And instead of being afraid of what tomorrow will bring or worrying about where next week will take me,
I will LOVE fiercely every day.
I will LIVE knowing that none of us have the promise of tomorrow.
I will CHERISH every moment I am met with - the good, the bad and everything in between.
And I will BE THANKFUL knowing that each day is a precious gift - and what I do with it is my choice.
But that is LIFE.
And instead of being afraid of what tomorrow will bring or worrying about where next week will take me,
I will LOVE fiercely every day.
I will LIVE knowing that none of us have the promise of tomorrow.
I will CHERISH every moment I am met with - the good, the bad and everything in between.

Love the post. It made me reflect on my past few years. I went from know I would never have children to finding an RE who said we should try after a surgery. Our Daughter is a true miracle from God and we have another on the way. In 2012 I will focus more on my family and teaching them what it means to live to the fullest each day with love.
I love my family. I have many moments I can think about in the past that make me smile. Now I am trying to find a career. I started blogging a few weeks ago. I am basically trying to define me. I know I am a mom and a wife but what else can I be. So I am on the search for that.

Lovely post! Those unexpected turns in life often take us to places we’d never choose on our own - but lead to beauty. My hope for 2012 is to experience joy in the journey and appreciate those whom I encounter along the way.
