With Christmas in the rear view mirror, we’re officially starting to prepare for New Year’s. In a house with two boys, the most important thing we can do when welcoming in the new year is make LOTS of noise! A few years ago we made a fun New Year’s Eve Noise Makers out of paper plates. However, they were too big for my littlest guy’s hands. So I decided it was time to come up with a preschool sized noise maker craft that could get him in on the fun.
I started by looking around the house to see what items would work best. Since we’re huge on Paper Roll crafts, as soon as I spotted our stash of empty paper rolls, inspiration hit! Pair that with some sparkle and some noise making beans and we had the recipe for New Year’s Eve success!
What You Will Need:
Empty Toilet Paper Rolls (or Paper Towel Rolls cut into sections)
Gold and Silver Sparkly Duct Tape
Gold and Silver Ribbon
How to Make Them:
Start by removing any excess paper from your rolls and ensuring they are fairly smooth. Then set one of the open ends of your roll on to a piece of duct tape and cut around it, leaving excess to bend over the edges to create a seal.
Once you have secured the edges of your duct tape to seal one end of your paper roll, fill your tube about 1/3 of the way full with beans.
Then set your tube on the sealed end and repeat the process to create a seal for the top of the tube, trapping the bean inside.
Once both ends of your tube are sealed, cut strips of duct tape that are long enough to wrap completely around your paper roll and cover the middle section. Line your duct tape up with the ends of your tube so that it covers the edges of your round pieces and secures your end coverings in place.
Now that your roll is filled and covered, it’s time to make it pretty! Glue jewels into place in any pattern you like to add some sparkle.
Then cut pieces of your ribbon, curl them and glue them to the bottom of your tube.
Allow all of your glue to dry and your noise maker is done! Now simply repeat the process with you silver sparkly duct tape to create multiple noise makers that compliment each other.
Once your noise makers are ready, it’s time to put them in little hands and let the fun begin! Since these noise makers are seriously the perfect size for little hands, all you have to do is let show your kiddo how to get shaking!
As they shake away and make tons of noise they will love the excitement. Our guess is that whether it’s the middle of the day or as the ball drops, your kids will have a blast making noise in this easy and creative way!
Happy New Year’s and enjoy!
