With this crazy cold weather, we’ve been indoors quite a bit. Which could be a bad thing with a preschooler. Or it could be the perfect time to get our craft on! With St. Patrick’s Day quickly approaching, we decided to turn our most recent snow day into a fun craft day that yielded the perfect kid’s Leprechaun craft! So are you ready to hit the pot of gold with this craft that is perfect for kids of all ages? Let’s get started!
What You Will Need:
Clothes Pins
Green Paint
Googly Eyes
Craft Foam in Green, Yellow and Orange
Black Sharpie
Glue
How to Make It:
Start by painting the bottom part only of your clothes pin green. A good guide line to use is to pain below the pin that hold the clothes pin together.
While your paint is drying, cut out hats from your green foam, small buckles from your yellow foam and beards from your orange foam. Make sure they are the right size to fit on your clothes pins and lay them out in the right order.
Next, assemble your leprechauns! To do this, glue your hat to the top portion of your clothes pin and then glue the buckle on. Next, blue your beard on, covering the joint of the clothes pin with it. If the sides of your beard come up too far, simply cut them shorter and then secure the sides with glue. Finally, glue on your two googly eyes.
As a final step, use your sharpie to add a small line for the mouth and your Clothes Pin Leprechauns are finished! Now all that’s left to do is play!
This makes a fabulous cold day craft, a great school activity or even a fun magnet to hold papers (simply glue a magnet to the back) that will have you feeling the luck of the Irish in no time at all!
Happy Crafting!
