How many of you have Mason Jars in your home right now? Living in the South, they are pretty much a staple around here. And while I’ve been using them for a variety of reasons for many years, Mason jars are all the rage right now for tons of reasons! They are so very useful for a variety of things and provide a great reusable storage source. And the best part? Instead of buying pricy containers, they can often times be found at resale shops, thrift stores, and even in your own kitchen since there are many foods that come in mason jars. A simple scrub to get the label off and you’ve got the perfect little jar!
But once your jar is ready, what are you going to do with it? Try some of these ideas to use your jars and be inspired.
Store your noodles
Mason jars are a great way to store your noodles and pasta. They make it easy to see in the cupboard without having to move around boxes and bags. You could also store things like beans and dehydrated fruits and veggies. Just think of all the odds and ends in your pantry that could be organized to the max with the help of mason jars!
Vases
If someone brought over some flowers but you couldn’t seem to find one of the fifteen vases that you know you have somewhere in the house, you might just use a mason jar. You can even do this as a décor element in your home. Paint a few jars in colors that match your décor, and use them to put fake flowers and arrangements in.
Storage
If your desk space seems to be one big mess (yes, I’m totally raising my hand here), update it with jars! Baby food jars work especially well for storing paper clips and other small desk items, and larger jars work perfect for markers, pens and pencil storage. You can custom paint them to add a new flair to your work space.
Create an herb garden
If you would like to start an herb garden, but can’t seem to find the space, use a few mason jars. They are easy to move around and easy to clean out after you transfer the plants (if you even take them out). They will work well for other types of plants as well should you need to replant things or would like a new look.
Bathroom organization
Bobby pins and hair ties and q-tips oh my! Small mason jars work great for all of these things. They allow you to see what’s inside of them for easy storage in drawers and cupboards and they have covers to keep their contents in without spilling. Plus, you can simply search Pinterest for some amazing decor ideas that will really turn your plain old mason jars into a work of art!
So what are you waiting for? With all these fun ideas, grab those mason jars, get creative and turn what you may have seen as trash into a true treasure!
