We all know that Mother’s Day is approaching quickly. And if you’re anything like me, you might just be wondering what to get the mom in your life. Chances are pretty good that you’ve got some amazing pictures of her with you or with your kids laying around and the perfect solution is to turn them into an adorable gift that she’s sure to treasure for years to come. Now, I know you could just frame a picture for her. Or even grab some flowers. But when you combine the two in a Mason Jar Picture Frame Vase, you’ve got a gift that any mom is sure to love.
What You Will Need:
Mason Jars
Favorite Pictures
Vinyl Stickers (Or Cut Your Own)
Spray Paint
Acrylic Paint and Brush
Mod Podge (for Sealing)
How to Make It:
This Mason Jar Picture Frame Vase is actually super simple to make! To start put a square piece of vinyl sticker that is cut to the size you want your image to be in the middle of your mason jar.
Then spray paint it using your favorite Spring colors! A great suggestion is to use you mom’s favorite colors or those that match the decor of the inside of her home.
*Tip: Use a few coats of paint to achieve an even texture that you can’t see through.* Once your spray paint is dry (and I do mean completely dry and not tacky at all to the touch), add your boarder sticker to your mason jar.
Next use your acrylic paint and a brush to paint on the frame. Don’t worry if the sticker messes up your spray paint a little as you’ll distress the whole vase later.
Once your frame is dry, gently remove your sticker.
Now you’re ready to distress your frame. Using some fine sand paper, gently rub it over different places on your vase until the clear vase almost shows through. Once you’ve got the look you want, cut your image to the exact size of the opening and use Mod Podge to secure it well.
Now, all that’s left to do is seal your vase and you can do this one of two ways. You guys know I’m the Mod Podge queen so I like to put a thick coat of Mod Podge over the top of my vase to keep everything in place. Alternately you can use clear spray enamel to keep everything in place BUT with the image on the outside, I highly recommend the Mod Podge.
Once your Mod Podge is dry, your vase is done and I promise you it’s a gift mom will love for years to come! Pick up a few flowers to complete you’re look and you’ve got the perfect Mother’s Day gift!
