While I know that we’re already almost two months into the new year, for me, the changes that I started on January 1st are really just starting to become habit. Like most busy moms, my goals for the new year included taking better care of myself and paying more attention to what I eat. I promised myself (just as I do each and every year) that I was going to make myself a priority and find simple ways to live my best life. While it’s no secret that for some time I’ve made meal planning and feeding my family the best ingredients a priority, this year I decided that I needed to do the same for myself. You see, while I pride myself on cooking well-balanced meals with fresh ingredients at least six nights a week, I don’t always do the same for myself at breakfast and lunch. My busy weekday schedule often has me grabbing whatever I can find and eating it on the go. However, after a somewhat stressful end of last year that included an unexpected diagnosis for my family, my eyes were opened to the fact that I need to take better care of myself….to get off the constant yo-yo routine of exercising only when it’s convenient and eating well only when I think I have the time. With that in mind, I’ve been on a mission to make eating well simple. I’m scoffing at the idea that fast meals can’t be protein-rich and that a fit lifestyle has to come at the price of letting other areas of my life suffer. Instead, I’m challenging the way I think about food and coming up with easy eating well ideas and pairings for busy moms that are helping me discover that delicious, satisfying meals can be quick and easy and more than that, they can help give me the energy to be the best mom I can be.
It’s just a simple fact that how I eat impacts how I feel. I’m gonna be honest and say that with all I’ve had going on, I’ve slipped a little bit on my fitness and healthy eating goals. The end of last year had me scrambling so much that exercise went to the bottom of my priority list and food became an afterthought. However, on January 1st, I decided to push the reset button. I know that as a mom, I don’t feel my best when I’m not exercising and eating right. I’m sluggish. I’m less productive. I’m more likely to fall into a cycle of making less-that-great choices when it comes to my health day after day. But, just as any mom who has bounced on and off the healthy living train knows, living my best life is about small, attainable changes. While it was important for me to make my favorite physical activity of hiking daily a part of my daily routine once again, it was even more important for me to look at my nutritional goals and find easy ways to fuel my body in all-natural ways. Here are the easy changes that I’ve made.
Plan in Advance
The idea of eating better is one that we all love to think about. However, an idea is nothing without execution. I’m more than guilty of wanting a healthy breakfast, lunch or snack while the kids are at school but finding myself standing in front of a fridge that has nothing in it for me. I’m literally a rock star at planning out their well-packed lunchboxes but I often fail miserably at stocking up on nutritional items that wills satisfy my taste buds. That’s why I’ve added a section for “Mom Lunches and Snacks” to my weekly meal plan. By simply stocking up on items like spinach, lean chicken, fruit and FAGE Total Split Cups, I know I can always find a snack or meal worth getting excited about. This eliminates my daily dilemma of standing in front of a fridge filled with food but not finding anything that I wanted to eat.
Find Better-For-You Ways to Indulge
Truth: I’m not a big fan of deprivation. Calorie counting isn’t really my thing and tasteless food just doesn’t work for me. I want flavor. I want indulgence. But I want it to fit in with my trying-to-be-healthy lifestyle. When I can find a way to treat myself that is protein-rich, satisfying and above all crazy delicious, it’s a total win! That’s what drew me to FAGE Total 0% Split Cups. These perfectly sized pairings of fat free all-natural Greek strained yogurt and delicious fruit toppings feel like a sweet indulgence while still allowing me to make good choices when it comes to snacking and meals.
While all the FAGE Total Split Cups fruit varieties are quick and easy and perfect for at home or on-the-go, right now I’m crushing on the ability to have a protein-rich breakfast, snack or dessert with the FAGE Total 0% Split Cups.
My personal go-to flavor at the moment happens to be strawberry and with only 11 grams of sugar, 13 grams of protein and just 100 tiny calories per container, FAGE Total 0% Split Cups with strawberry fruit are an absolutely divine part of my day! Whether I’m hurrying in the morning, trying to grab a quick yet satisfying snack before I go hiking or looking for a guilt-free way to add dessert to my healthy lunch, reaching for these cups is always the perfect idea!
I adore that I can indulge in rich and creamy yogurt paired with just sweet enough strawberries for a easy treat that doesn’t leave me feeling guilty. There’s no preparation needed, no extra time involved and I’ll be completely honest, my FAGE Total 0% Split Cup is my favorite pre-workout snack or after lunch dessert that always leaves me feeling satisfied and ready to face the rest of my day.
In fact, I find myself reaching for this easy indulgence daily because it totally satisfies my sweet tooth without derailing my healthy-living goals that I’m working so hard to stick to this year! It’s the better-for-me way to indulge that doesn’t feel like I’m depriving myself at all which for me is the key to finding balance and success with my healthier lifestyle.
Mix Up Meal Time
While FAGE Total 0% Split Cups are my go-to right now, with the strawberry variety admittedly being my favorite, I’ve learned from years of experience that variety is the spice of life and so often, temptation to make choices that don’t fit in with my healthy lifestyle comes from boredom. That’s why I make it a goal of mine to have a handful of breakfast, lunch and snack ideas always on hand (try sticking them on the front of the fridge) and I adore that FAGE Total Split Cups fit in perfectly with all of them! The all-natural Greek strained yogurt comes with a variety of delicious fruit toppings! Here are just a few of my favorite ideas to get you started!

I love these cups. I keep them in the house at all times. I eat what I can when I can, so having these helps me stay health while I’m super busy.
Oh yum, I’ll have to try this yogurt. I don’t think I’ve ever had this brand before. I like to have quick snack options, so I’ll pick up some of these!
Preparing ahead is key. We eat a bunch of yogurt. Now I make my own. Homemade granola bars are a big hit.
I love all your tips about eating well. We can be totally busy at times but one of the things that we shouldn’t forget is to eat healthy otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to take good care of our family. It really doesn’t require much effort.

These are great ideas! Planning ahead helps me. It’s one of those things that if I don’t stop and eat. I get busy and forget. Then it is 2:30 and almost time to get in carline and I realize I didn’t stop to eat lunch.
The Fage yogurts look so good and the fruit toppings so fresh and sweet. I rarely snack on anything but a few pretzels in a day so these would be great for me and my son who loves yogurt.
I love that there are so many options now that with just a bit of planning we no longer have an excuse to eat poorly. I like the idea of mixing up meals.
What a cool way to mix the fruit into the yogurt! I need to work better on having more nutritious snacks.
We love these in our home! The mango is my current favorite and I just stocked up since we’re on winter break here.
