As most of you know, for my family this is the year of eating at home. I’m coming up with lots of meal plans and priding myself on being able to whip up an amazing dinner for my family each and every night. While I’ve got my tried and true recipes and pairings, I also like to mix things up, especially when it comes to adding more veggies to our meals. I’ll be honest and say that while my kiddos don’t give me too hard of a time about anything I put on the table, they do get bored with the same old sides. That’s why I’m super excited to share a fun and easy new side dish with all of you today! It’s low-carb, delicious and pairs well just pretty much any protein! I know you’ll want to whip up these Brussels Sprouts Fritters!
Truth, Brussels Sprouts are one of my FAVORITE sides! They are quick and easy and you can prepare them so many ways! If you’re new to brussels sprouts, you may want to try out my easy Oven Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Ginger Balsamic Glaze recipe or my Creamy Brussels Sprouts Bake! Both are great options for any meal! And now, I’ve found perhaps my favorite Brussels Sprouts recipe in these easy to make Brussels Sprouts Fritters! After all, who doesn’t love fritters? Here’s how to make them!
What You Will Need
1/4 Cup of Flour
1 Teaspoon of Salt
1/2 Teaspoon of Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon of Garlic Powder
1 Egg
1 and 1/2 Pounds of Fresh Brussels Sprouts
1/4 Cup of Sliced Green Onions
Olive Oil
How to Make Them
I know that so often people think fritters are a lot of work but if you can chop, mix and dip, you can whip up these Brussels Sprouts Fritters no problem! They are easy peasy and oh so delicious! To start, I finely cut my brussels sprouts and added them to a bowl with my sliced green onions.
Next, I added in my egg and mixed my ingredients together well, ensuring that the egg had coated both my brussels sprouts and my green onions.
Once my egg was mixed in, I added my four, salt, pepper and garlic powder to my brussels sprouts mixture and mixed it well to coat it evenly. Then I set it aside which I headed a pan with hot oil.
Once my pan was hot, I scooped my Brussels Sprouts Fritters into using a two tablespoon portion scoop (here’s a great one to try!) with hot oil.
Once I had scooped in my Brussels Sprouts Fritters, I gently pressed them to about 1/2 inch thickness using the back of a spatula.
I continued to cook my Brussels Sprouts Fritters until they were brown and then flipped them and cooked the other side. Once my Brussels Sprouts Fritters were completely cooked to golden brown, I drained them on a paper towel before serving them.
Once they were drained of any excess greats, serving up these easy and delicious Brussels Sprouts Fritters was as easy as adding them to a plate and placing them on the table.
They are packed with flavor and delicious just as they are or you can pair these Brussels Sprouts Fritters with an easy dipping sauce to add even more dimension!
One thing I know for sure is that if your family is like mine, these Brussels Sprouts Fritters are sure to disappear quickly!
Tell me, what’s your favorite way to serve Brussels Sprouts?
