For me, it’s a little hard to believe that Easter is only a few short weeks away. However, that means it’s time for me to get busy coming up with the perfect Easter basket ideas for my kiddos! While I don’t necessarily have anything against traditional Easter baskets filled with sweet treats, I tend to be the type of mom that goes more with ideas that don’t get the boys hyped up quite so much. I love including simple toys, sweet stuffed animals and fun activities. But as any mom knows, an Easter basket isn’t really complete without something to eat sitting inside so this year, I went outside the box and came up with some kid-approved Candy-Free Easter Basket ideas that are sure to be a hit in any home!
The first thing to remember when creating an Easter basket for any kid is that each child is different and each Easter basket should reflect the things that they love and enjoy! With this in mind, I headed to my local Walmart in search of items to fill the perfect candy-free Easter basket for my littlest. I was immediately drawn to the Easter aisles at the front of the store and their endless selection of perfect odds and ends that were sure to make my Easter basket a success! If you’re stumped on what to put in your child’s candy-free Easter basket here are a few ideas to inspire you!

Once I had picked out a simple basket and a handful of the non-candy ideas above, I was almost finished but I know that in my home, Easter is not complete without something to eat inside our Easter baskets. As I mentioned, this year I really wanted to stay away from sweets so I began walking up and down the snack aisles looking for something to complete my candy-free Easter basket. As soon as I saw the Slim Jim Original and Mild Smoked Snack Sticks in the Gable Top boxes, I knew I had the perfect finishing touch for my candy-free Easter basket.
You see, not only are these individually wrapped snacks a perfect item to add to my Easter baskets but they also just happen to be a favorite of both my kids! They are so easy to stick into their lunchboxes or for them to grab as they are on their way out the door for sports practice. Knowing this, I was thrilled that I could complete their candy-free Easter basket with an item that they can not only enjoy on Easter but in the coming weeks as well. I also noticed while I was making my purchases at Walmart that I could create my own virtual Easter Basket by visiting SlimJimBoldBreak.com and enter for a chance to win on of 20 $100 Walmart e-gift cards* (more on that later). With all the items I had purchased at Walmart, including my Slim Jim snacks, I was able to fill my candy-free Easter basket to perfection and style it in a way that was really cute!

Slim Jims are such a cool idea for an Easter Basket! My daughter loves them, and I could see myself snacking on them too. I will have to be sure to do this, this Easter.
I love this idea. I’d rather give my kids treats full of protein than treats filled with sugar. It doesn’t hurt that my kids love Slim Jim, either. =)

I have noticed more and more parents are going for no candy Easter baskets or at least less candy in the Easter baskets. Long as there is one chocolate bunny in the baskets everything will be fine around my house.
I typically fill baskets with books and toys and minimal candy. Even the big, pre-filled baskets at the stores have less candy and more small toys, trinkets or activity books. Thanks for the contest info. I’ll have to stop by and create my online basket.

I get in a little trouble every year for stuffing the grand kids baskets full of sweets! lol. This is a great idea, I’m going to try this. I know it is a much healthier option.
Yes!!! These are such great ideas! I try my best to keep sugary treats at a minimum! My kids (especially my oldest) would love these ideas!!
This looks like a fabulous basket. My kids would be offended if there weren’t candy in their baskets though, but they would like all of this in a basket-plus candy. We do enjoy Slim Jims!
My son has never been a huge candy fan. His basket always has sunflower seeds, jerky and usually a game of sorts.
EGGCELENT baskets! Indeed Easter baskets do not need to have candy in them! As a mom of a type 1 diabetic, I have done baskets without candy for years. I love your ideas!

I am trying to do candy free Easter baskets this year, too. I’m also avoiding all of the little junk toys that will just end up in the garbage. My kids really need to learn that we don’t need so many things to be happy.
Candy free Easter baskets are such an awesome idea and I like the suggestions you have in this post. Even parents who give their kids some candy can cut back, replacing those sweets with healthy treats and/or fun activities and toys.

So nice to see people putting together a candy free Easter basket. I mean, chocolate and candy is awesome but too much of it isn’t healthy for the kids.
These are really great ideas. We have a couple candy favourites in our baskets each year but mostly go candy free. Slim Jims are something my daughter would actually prefer over candy too!

What a fantastic idea. This year I am limiting the candy to 1 per basket! So this is a great option, especially for my teen who would LOVE this!
