The older my boys get, the less time we get to spend together. Often my teen would rather be with friends (sniff, sniff). My youngest has started choosing video games over family time and my hubby’s schedule keeps him busy on more nights that not. In truth, it’s hard to find time to do things together as a family but as a mom, it’s my goal to create moments that connect us through fun time spent together. That’s why movie night is a big deal in our home. There is just something about whipping up a delicious snack, popping a movie we can all enjoy into the Blu-Ray player and sitting down together on a Friday night that does wonders for my heart. In truth though, movie nights have been getting fewer and farther between in my home. Now, it’s not that we don’t want to have this fun time together. It’s just kinda rare for us to find a movie that my 1st grader, 9th grader and both us adults can all agree is awesome. But recently, we brought back movie night with a film we’ll be watching over and over again. In fact, every member of the family declared it a hit! In fact, we had so much fun that I figured it was only fair to share with you how to plan the BEST Jumanji family movie night so that you too can connect with your family in the most fun way!
Now, trust me….I get that mom life is B-U-S-Y and chances are pretty good that you’re like me and want to keep things simple. And that’s totally fine! In fact, I only claimed that my best Jumanji family movie night ideas were awesome, not that they were difficult! In fact, turning a regular Friday night into the best Jumanji family movie night ever is actually crazy simple! Here’s how to do it in just a few simple steps!
Stock up on Your Supplies at Walmart
I said my best Jumanji Family movie night was easy to accomplish but that doesn’t mean that you don’t need to do the tiniest bit of planning! Thankfully, Walmart has everything I need to create an epic movie night with a small budget and an ever smaller amount of time. In fact, I didn’t even have to plan a special trip to accomplish my best Jumanji family movie night. Instead, I simply stocked up on exactly what I needed while I was doing my weekly Walmart grocery shopping trip! I’ll be honest though, when I headed to Walmart to do my shopping, I had no idea what my best Jumanji family movie night was going to look like. It wasn’t until I spotted the HUGE Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle display in the center aisle next to the entertainment section that inspiration began to hit!
This awesome movie that features some of our favorite stars like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Back in a hilarious adventure the whole family can enjoy is perfect for family movie night! The movie was available on the display on both Blu-Ray and DVD and includes two exclusive Snapcodes, ones on the packaging and the other inside the disk, that can be used to unlock the exclusive Augmented Reality experience to transport into the movie! My little guy stole my Snapchat because he thought the Jumanji features were just so cool!
Inspired by this huge display, I decided to go big in the easiest ways! After all, what pairs better with an awesome movie than dinner and popcorn? After picking up my Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn in Ultimate Butter flavor that has 0g trans fat per serving but is the only leading brand that uses real butter (Select products contain real butter. See package for ingredient details), I quickly headed to the freezer aisles and completed my purchases by grabbing Banquet Mega Meals that are proudly made in the USA for all of us.
After stocking up on Banquet Meals, Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn and of course the Blu-Ray for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, I headed home to bring my best Jumanji family movie night to life! Here’s exactly how I did it!
Challenge Everyone to Wear their Best Jungle Dress
Don’t go rolling your eyes at me mamas! We all know that there is something crazy in all our closets and pulling it out just sets the mood to pop Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle into the Blu-Ray player and have an epic movie night! Tropical prints and bright colors will do just fine! Or perhaps try tying an old t-shirt around the kid’s heads. Keep it simple but encourage everyone to get in a wild mood by dressing for an unforgettable movie night!
Whip up a Quick and Easy Dinner
Remember when I said I’m often short on time and it robs me of time with my family? Well, you better believe I wasn’t falling into that trap for my best Jumanji family movie night! Instead, remember those Banquet meals I grabbed while I was at Walmart? With options like the Banquet Chicken Fajita Mega Bowl, I was able to whip up a simple dinner that felt like it stuck with the jungle theme! In fact, this easy meal was perfect for my best Jumanji family movie night because I think it looks exactly like what you would eat on a jungle adventure….don’t you agree?
Don’t Skip the Jungle Themed Popcorn
Now, I know that we had just eaten but my boys’ favorite thing about watching a movie is having popcorn with it! While some people may think popcorn is reserved for the theater (I scoff at them!), I know that popcorn during a movie at home is a must! I know I could have just popped up my bags of Orville Redenbacher’s Ultimate Butter Popcorn and the boys would have been happy but it literally took less than five minutes to turn my already awesome plain popcorn into Jungle Themed Popcorn!
What You Will Need
2 Bags of Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn
1/2 Cup of Green Candy Melts
Assorted Jungle Themed Candy
How to Make It
This Jungle Themed Popcorn which is truly a mixture of snack and dessert is so easy to make and the kids love it! Inspired by Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, I wanted to really bring the feel of the jungle into our easy snack so I popped my bags of popcorn and spread them out on an aluminum foil lined baking sheet.
Next, I melted my candy melts and added them to a piping bag, cutting a small hole in the top so that I would be able to drizzle a little of my candy melts over my popcorn. After drizzling on my candy melts as the base to which my jungle themed candy would stick, I simple sprinkled on candy worms, candy bananas, gummy leaves and some jungle colored candy balls.
After allowing my candy melts to harden again so that my jungle candy was stuck to the popcorn, I simply broke it all up and placed it in a large bowl to serve during the movie.
Sit Back and Enjoy the Show
With dinner eaten and our perfect Jungle Themed Popcorn snack prepared, all that was left to do was pop the Blu-Ray into the player and cuddle up with the family to enjoy the best Jumanji family movie night ever! Since my boys have been begging to watch this movie for some time now, they couldn’t wait to see it come on the screen and I have to admit, the hubs and I thought it was awesome as well!
Honestly, I don’t think we’ve laughed as much as we did while we munched on our Jungle Themed Popcorn and watched what is undeniably one of the biggest movies of the year that is now available to own!
I can say without a doubt that purchasing Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was a smart move for us since it turns out it’s even better than we expected and we’ll surely be watching it time and time again!
