It’s been almost two weeks since we returned from our Spring getaway to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and I must say, I’m still dreaming of all the fun we had! This little destination nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains proved to be the perfect family retreat to allow us to reconnect, have tons of fun and of course eat some amazing food! Last week I shared with you a list of my Pigeon Forge Must Visit Attractions for Families and as I’m sure you saw, a day is simply not enough time to take in all that Pigeon Forge has to offer. So the question becomes, where to you stay while in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee? And perhaps even more importantly, what are the can’t miss meals you MUST enjoy while you’re there. That’s why I wanted to follow up today with my suggestions on where to stay and dine in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
I know there are endless options when it comes to choosing your accommodations in Pigeon Forge. From cabins to spa getaways to family friendly hotels, there’s an option to meet every family’s budget and needs. For us, staying at the Black Fox Lodge was the perfect fit!
Located right off the main strip where you’ll find all the attractions I mentioned last week is this cute hotel that’s got a very rustic vibe and is just perfect for families like mine! With a complimentary breakfast of fresh local foods served daily, free wi-fi and amazing rooms and suits with stunning views, this newer addition to Pigeon Forge’s accommodations is the picture perfect place to rest your head at night. We were lucky enough to score one of the Black Fox Lodge suites that has two separate rooms and two bathrooms and staying there really made our trip so much better!
Not only did was have a huge living area that was separate from the bedroom but we also had two beds. Even better, the couch in the living room pulled out into a bed, giving my teenager the privacy that he wanted! It was perfect for when some of us needed a go to bed earlier while others wanted to stay up late! And did I mention the two bathrooms? I did? Well, don’t underestimate the beauty of two bathrooms when you travel with a group of boys!
Perhaps my absolutely favorite feature of our room at the Black Fox Lodge was the porch though. With sweeping views and a wrap around design, sunrise and sunset from this location made each morning and evening unforgettable.
It was truly spectacular waking up to the sun peeking over the mountains and coming back in the evenings to relax on the porch before getting ready for our evening activities. Both of my kids declared that the Black Fox Lodge was their favorite hotel that we’ve ever stayed in and I have to say, I agree! It really was a fantastic place to stay while in Pigeon Forge and made us feel much more at home while we were away from home!
So now that you know where to rest your head at night, let’s talk about where to eat while you’re in Pigeon Forge!
Breakfast
If you’re in Pigeon Forge for breakfast, your destination needs to be Mama’s Farmhouse! This cute little down home restaurant is beyond drool-worth and serves up some Southern classics like hashbrown casserole, grits and seriously the BEST Biscuits and Sausage Gravy that I’ve ever had (sorry mom!).
Instead of ordering off of a menu, everything is brought to the table family style so that you can try a little bit of this and a little bit of that and then request more of what you like best!
With classic options like sausage and bacon and some more unique offerings like chocolate gravy, this is a great choice for breakfast that everyone in the family is sure to love! My guys could have just stayed here and kept on eating all day, especially the hubs!
Lunch
If you follow my recommendations for activities while in Pigeon Forge you might find yourself at The Island and if you do, don’t miss your chance to check out the Timberwood Grill. I’ll be honest that I didn’t get too many pics of our meal here because it just disappeared to quickly!
With good comfort food offerings like meatloaf and a fried bologna sandwich, this was a perfect place to sit down, relax and enjoy an amazing meal! And did I happen to mention that they have a burger topped with Macaroni and Cheese? Yes, that’s right! If you’re not sure what to order at Timberwood Grill, the Bacon Mac & Cheese Burger is a fool proof choice!
Dinner
I’m hoping you’ll plan at least two nights for your Pigeon Forge Spring getaway because I couldn’t narrow down my dinner choices to just one! Instead, you’ll just have to find a way to eat two dinners while you’re in town so you can visit both Bennett’s Pit Bar-b-que and Big Daddy’s Pizzeria! If you’re a fan of the best darn bar-b-que around, you’ll be a fan of Bennett’s!
From brisket to sausage to pork bar-b-que and sandwiches, this place has it all when it comes to bar-b-que the way you want it! With a variety of sauces and something for everyone in the family, it’s a must visit restaurant!
There are even fun race car sticker sheets for the kids while they wait for food and the atmosphere is just so welcoming!
We choose Bennett’s after viewing the magic show at WonderWorks and it was perfect that is was open till 10pm, allowing us to do all we wanted to and still get a great dinner!
Once you’ve tried Bennett’s Pit Bar-b-que (or just in case you’re not a fan of bar-b-que), my second recommendation for dinner is Big Daddy’s Pizzeria!
This fun, friendly restaurant boasts a wood oven grill and makes a variety of pizzas and subs that are just beyond delicious!
You can see you food being cooked right through the open window and they serve up not only grilled sandwiches that are amazing but also pizza options like the meatball pizza or the Philly cheese steak pizza!
There’s even an arcade in the back just in case mama and daddy want a little quite time to finish their meal while the kids play! This was probably the kids’ favorite restaurant in town and one that I know we’ll return to when we visit again!
I’ll be honest and tell you that from my experience you can’t go wrong with the array of accommodations and local fare in Pigeon Forge but if you’re a planner like me, start with my suggestions above of where to stay and dine in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

What a fun trip! I haven’t been to Pigeon Forge in a couple of years but when I do go back for a visit, I’ll be sure to eat at Mama’s Farmhouse. The food looks amazing! We usually stay in a cabin, but Black Fox Lodge has me rethinking that idea. The view is fab!
