3 Tips to Make Your Toy Story Land Visit Memorable

You all know that I’m a Disney lover. The magic and the colors and the joy just pull me in each and every time. While there is something about those classic rides that I remember from my childhood that will always make a visit to the happiest place on earth worth it, I get really, REALLY excited when a new attraction opens…..like Toy Story Land. Now, most of you know that I was in Disney World back in February for the Disney Social Media Moms Conference and at that time I got some sneak peeks and thought “Man, I really want to go visit when it opens.” However, I didn’t think I’d be back for at least a year. Thankfully, I was wrong. Last week when I was in town checking out all that’s new with the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, I was able to slip over to Hollywood Studios, head into Toy Story Land and check out all the fun. I only had a few hours there (I seriously could have spent so much longer) but in my brief stay, I figured out a few things that YOU need to know as you plan your visit! So, let’s get started with how to plan, what to do and my 3 tips to make your Toy Story Land visit memorable.

Now, I can’t promise my tips will work for everyone but for us, they were fabulous and truthfully, could be well applied to many of the Disney World attractions. Here’s what you need to do in order to ensure your Toy Story Land visit is unforgettable.

Schedule Your Fast Passes ASAP

Any Disney lover knows that Fast Passes are where it’s at! Just in case you’re new to the Disney game, Fast Passes are times you can reserve to ride your favorite rides without waiting in the long lines. If you’re staying on the Disney World property, these Fast Passes can be reserved at the 60 day mark prior to your visit. If you’re off property, you can get them 30 days in advance. Trust me when I say get them though! You can schedule up to 3 Fast Passes (in the same park) and they are totally worth it (we’re talking a BIG difference in wait times).

If all the Fast Passes are booked for when you’re visiting, be sure to check back frequently leading up to your visit and even the day you’re in the park as occasionally people will change plans and drop their Fast Passes, making them suddenly available online. Admittedly, this isn’t likely with a new attraction like Toy Story Land but hey, it can happen! Whether or not you have those Fast Passes in hand, the next tip will help you maximize your time!

Visit During the Early Afternoon

I’ll admit that I’ve though getting to the parks first thing in the morning is the way to do things. At some parks it can be but as I was talking to a cast member during our recent visit, he indicated that mornings are C-R-A-Z-Y because, well, everyone thinks if they get there early there will be no lines. Common sense dictates that this thought process leads to….you guessed it….very long lines! So, I recommend visiting in the early afternoon. We had heard stories of wait times to even get into Toy Story Land but by visiting a little after lunch time we breezed right in and the waits weren’t even that long!

Slinky Dog Dash (which, by the way, is a MUST ride) had a stand by wait time of a little over an hour which was super surprising to me since I had heard of people waiting upwards of three hours for this new ride. When I asked about the wait time (as we went through with our Fast Pass) I was told that the lines had been much longer early in the mornings (see, I told you so!).

While I do totally recommend taking advantage of Magic Hours (hours that are open to just guests staying on the Disney World property before and after certain parks open), I recommend even more thinking of visiting during the times when you “think” everyone will be there;-) While you can (and should) totally spend an entire day there, I do have to tell you that if you’re limited on time and only have time to do one thing while you’re there, make it Slinky Dog Dash! Trust me! Even my teen (who thinks nothing is fun) declared it one of his top 5 favorite Disney rides!

Don’t Just Focus on The Rides

I know there is the temptation to get in, get on the rides and get out (especially when you’ve got little kids with you) but let me tell you, you need to stop and take a minute to look around the details at Toy Story Land. There are so many photo ops and so many cool touches. The entire land is made out of brightly colored toys and probably my favorite thing was the attention to detail that was given to every single structure.

I was even told (after our visit, sadly) that there is a bench you can sit on in Toy Story Land that is truly magical! Why you ask….because no matter how tall (or short) you are, when you sit with your back against it, you feet don’t touch the ground! Pretty cool right? Trust me when I say that the fun at Toy Story Land never ends! From classic toys that are now bigger than life to toy soldiers that march through the streets, if Toy Story Land is not on your places-to-visit list, add it today! Then use my tips to maximize your visit and ensure that whether you’re in Toy Story Land for a few hours or a few days, you have time to do everything you want!
