It’s no secret to anyone that I’m crazy about my dog. He’s been with us for a little over a year now and in that time, he’s become the glue that holds our family together. Where we used to all scatter at the end of the day, we now all gather in the living room to throw the ball with Ollie and watch him slide haphazardly across the wood floor as he chases down his favorite toys. Truthfully, he’s brought so much joy to our lives and become a constant companion to my oldest son. While I admittedly did not know a ton about having a dog before we brought Ollie home, over the last year I’ve made it my mission to ensure he eats the right food, has the right bed, and plays with the right toys…..yes, I’m that dog mama! While it’s been easy for me to ensure that he gets two walks a day and just the right amount of play time, I’ll admit that initially I struggled with finding the right food for him. We explored a variety of options but for those of you who are familiar with small breed dogs, you know that their tummies can be sensitive and their tastes can be picky. After a lot of trial and error and stubbornness when it came to eating on his part, I not only found a food that makes his tail wag, but one that I love giving him in Nature’s Recipe® Grain Free dog food. Now, with this premium dog food, that boasts chicken as the #1 ingredient, in my home, the only thing I needed to do was find the perfect way to store it in order to make mealtime for my Ollie always amazing. To do that, I created a fun and simple Personalized Dog Food Canister and it turned out so cute that I had to share the tutorial with all of you so that you too have the perfect way to store your Nature’s Recipe Grain Free dog food for your four-legged friend.
Now, before we get to the Personalized Dog Food Canister, I want to share a little bit more about why Nature’s Recipe Grain Free dog food is the right choice for my pampered pooch! Just as I pay attention to the ingredients in my children’s food, I try to do the same for Ollie (he is a member of the family after all!). After talking with his vet about his sensitive tummy issues, we decided that grain free is the way to be and the best grain-free option for us was Nature’s Recipe Grain Free dog food because it’s easy-to-digest and provides the nutrition that little Ollie needs to fuel his big life! In addition to boasting a recipe that is carefully crafted with nutrient-dense carbohydrate sources such as sweet potato and pumpkin (which if you know much about dogs are two highly recommended additions to their diet), Nature’s Recipe Grain Free dog food products also have no corn, wheat, soy, poultry by-product meal or artificial flavors or preservatives. That means that this natural dog food doesn’t have any of the bad stuff but does have added vitamins, minerals and nutrients. But perhaps most important to this dog mama is the fact that my pup thinks Nature’s Recipe dog food tastes amazing. We’ve always struggled with him being picky when it comes to his dog food but any time we put Nature’s Recipe dog food in front of him, his tail starts wagging and he heads straight for his bowl.
Now, since Ollie is no longer technically considered a puppy (even though he’s still a mere four pounds), we’ve transitioned from Nature’s Recipe Grain Free Puppy food to Nature’s Recipe Small Breed Grain Free Chicken. Let me just tell you, I adore that there is an option of Nature’s Recipe food that is designed specifically for small breed dogs because the truth of the matter is, there IS a difference in what a four pound dog could, and should, eat. With the Nature’s Recipe Small Breed Grain Free options, I can still give Ollie the taste he loves but in a formula that is just right for his little doggy tummy! Even better, I don’t have to go to the pet store to get his favorite dog food and can instead simply stock up at my local Walmart!
While finding the perfect dog food for Ollie did take some time, I’ll also admit he takes quite a bit of time to eat a four pound bag of dog food. That’s why I decided to combine the Nature’s Recipe Grain Free dog food that he loves with a fun craft to create a Personalized Dog Food Canister!
