Thank you Amazon for sponsoring this post. Where will adventure take you and your Kindle device this summer?
Now that summer has officially started for my family, we’ve done a thing ya’ll. Some of you may remember that last summer I packed the boys up, headed to a small island off the coast of NC and spent the majority of the summer there. We lived a lifestyle free from the complexities of the everyday world and filled with nature. While last year, I was back and forth between our summer location and my home, this year I decided to well, go big or go home (and I’m so not going home) and I left for our island retreat the day school got out and don’t plan on returning till the day before school starts. Now, I know some of you are thinking that’s amazing and it totally is, but I have to tell you, life here is different. There are no cars. We don’t really watch TV. The native’s popular saying is that we’re living on “turtle time.” While all of this is beyond wonderful, what’s a mom like me to do during the day to relax and rejuvenate in these stunning surroundings? Well, if you know me, you know that my answer is to read, and going into this summer, I put together a list of books that I’ll be diving into. Some are adventures. Some are mysteries. Some are romances. My summer reading list is lengthy and ambitious even for me, but with this island location as my backdrop and with my Kindle in my hand, let me show you how my summer reading is perfected with Kindle and why for me, it is the only way to take tons of adventures on MY summer adventure.
Just a few short weeks ago when I was preparing for this trip, I was trying to close my eyes and imagine how I was going to spend my warm summer days. While I knew the kids would have me at the pool and my active side would insist on runs and bike rides through the forest, I’ll be honest and say that what I look forward to most during the summer - is reading. You see, I’m an avid reader. I love nothing more than grabbing my sunnies and sitting down with a fabulous book while I fall in love with new characters, solve mysteries, travel to far off places, and discover new people in my mind. For me, there is never a bad time to read, but did I mention that one of my goals this summer was to simplify things, go off the grid a little bit and live a more basic lifestyle. While I was packing, I had no problem narrowing down my clothes (bathing suits and shorts are simple enough). I didn’t feel bad about leaving all my makeup behind. But what I did stress about endlessly was how to take enough reading material along for the whole summer without needing an entire tote just for books. As I thought through my options and did my best to convince the kids that we could survive three months out of one suitcase, the solution for this book lover became clear. I didn’t need to take paper books. Instead, I could have thousands of books right at the touch of my fingertips with the all-new Kindle.
As Amazon’s most affordable e-reader, this new device is the first Kindle with a front-light that costs less than $100. It’s thin and light and seriously the perfect size for packing in my beach or pool bag as I head off to another day of adventure.
I adore that the Kindle’s design fits perfectly in all of my beach bags and doesn’t take up much room while still giving me room for ALL the books that I adore at the touch of a screen. From days on the beach to afternoons at the pool to evenings at the creek, this Kindle is the perfect size to take everywhere with me. I no longer have to worry about bulky books or torn pages and can instead simply immerse myself in the stories I love any time of the day.
Even better (and perhaps my favorite addition to the all-new Kindle) is the built-in adjustable front light that allows me to read comfortably even when it’s dark. That means that when I want to sit on the porch and not diminish the twinkle of the stars over the ocean or when my littlest comes and crawls into my bed, I can read away with the perfect amount of light to illuminate the words as they come to life on my Kindle screen. It means that whether it’s night or day, at home or on the go, I’ve got the perfect way to read at my fingertips anytime I want to dive into a story. Plus, when I travel, I don’t need to bring a charger with me because the all-new Kindle battery life is measured in weeks.
While I will admit that I’ve left quite a bit to chance this summer, the one thing I have ensured that my summer reading is in a form this year that is so easy to take on the go. As I adventure, I love knowing that whether I’m in the forest, on the beach or along the creek, when I want to stop, savor my surroundings, and lose myself in a perfect book, I can with Kindle. Because no matter where I end up reading, this must-have summer device guarantees that whatever book I’m currently devouring, I always have the best way possible to read. So while I may get lost in my surroundings on a daily basis this summer, I know that with my Kindle I never lose my place in my books.

Tell me, have you discovered the new Kindle? What book are you reading on it currently?
I love to read! I do have a Kindle that I bring when we travel. If we run out of space, it’s perfect. Granted, I always prefer the feel of a real book, but it’s nice to have a Kindle when you need it.

I’ve had a Kindle since the 2nd generation and that Kindle is what I still use outside. I have a 10″ Kindle for everything else. I really need a new smaller Kindle for outdoors since I go to the pool a lot.
Currently reading, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. I have to look into getting this. It would be perfect to have on hand.

That island retreat sounds like paradise, especially with no cars. Enjoy your summer of reading on your Kindle! I’m reading The Woo-Woo.
I think I need to get one of these for the kids. They love to read.
I would love to buy a Kindle for summer reading. I could use it by the pool, during travel, and at the beach. Thank you so much for bringing this product back into focus for me!
I have one, and my boys all have one, too. They are very handy while traveling. I can see why you would not want to go without it.
I have been thinking about getting a new Kindle. My son uses mine but I am wanting to read ebooks on planes instead of lugging a big book around.
I LOVE my Amazon Kindle!! It’s perfect for travel and for storing lots of books on it at once!
These look great. I need to get into reading more and less playing games or photos on my iphone.
I love my Amazon Kindle. I think it’s also perfect for reading. A great way to sit down and read many great books without having to borrow or buy them all.
I love my kindle. I especially love it because when I am out and finish a book, I can start right up with another.
That sounds like a dreamy way to spend the summer!
I have an old Kindle, but I still love it! I always travel with it instead of a traditional book. I once went camping with a regular book and when I settled in to read, I found out that I HATED the book. I was so mad that I had time to read and nothing that I wanted to read.
I know this is something necessary to have. Having kindle is going to be amazing. They have wonderful stuff to offer.
I don’t have Amazon Kindle yet, but I think it’s the best way to have all the books you love in one device!
Love using the kindle to read. so easy to pack up and take with you on the road.
I have the first edition Kindle! I no longer read from my Kindle device, I always read from my phone. I love that I can download as many books as I want and not have to worry about carrying them! 🙂
