Ya’ll, I’ll be honest…one of the things that mama is missing most right now is her coffee shop treats. While I’m a make-my-coffee-at-home type person most days, I do look forward to a cool iced coffee to brighten my afternoons. Now that we’re all under stay at home orders, that lifeline that helps me feel sane has had to go. My sugar-free iced coffee with whole or almond hasn’t been happening and, like many of you I’m sure, I was desperate for a way to reintroduce it to my new, quarantined life. Now, unless you’ve been under a rock (or avoiding the internet to avoid the news…it’s OK, I’ve been there too in the last few weeks), you’ve probably been seeing a lot of buzz about whipped coffee. The first time I saw it I thought I need that NOW! But they I looked and realized that it was not at all Keto friendly. So, I did what any desperate mama does right now and whipped up my own version and let me tell ya, if any of you mamas out there are Keto like me, you’re going to flip over this Keto Whipped Coffee that is literally saving my afternoon sanity and the best part is, you’ve probably already got everything you need in your home to make it!
This delightful drink is worth a try and it pairs your milk of choice (some Keto options include half and half, heavy cream, almond milk) with a creamy and sweet whipped coffee top. When it’s swirled together it’s seriously amazing and it totally works even if you’re living a Keto lifestyle with just a few simple tweaks. Here’s how to make it:
- 2 tablespoons of Instant coffee (I use espresso)
- 2 tablespoons of your favorite calorie free sweetener
- 2 tablespoons of hot water
- ½ cup of Keto friendly milk option
- Add the instant coffee, sweetener and hot water to a bowl.
- Using a frother or mixer, whip it together until it becomes light and fluffy.
- Fill your cup with ice and pour your milk choice over the top (fill cup about ¾ full).
- Top with the whipped coffee mixture.
- Swirl it all together and enjoy!
I love that this Keto Whipped Coffee drink doesn’t require me to do much of, well, anything. To start I added my instant coffee, calorie free sweetener and hot water to a bowl. Then I used my frother that I already had on hand to mix my collagen into my coffee in the morning to whip up ingredients together.
I found that it didn’t take long to whip the coffee mixture (about 3-4 minutes) and I got the best result by moving my frother around while I whipped the coffee and keeping it near the top of the mixture to really add in air. Once my whipped coffee was ready, I added ice to my cup and poured in my milk (I used half and half but any Keto friendly milk will work). I then topped my milk with the whipped coffee.
That was it and my delicious Keto Whipped Coffee was ready to enjoy.
I personally like to use my straw and swirl the sweet whipped coffee in with the milk to make a delicious caffeinated drink that’s a total pick me up in the afternoons. With life being so stressfull right now, it’s just the perfect way to stop the day, take a few minutes for myself and really recharge.
