Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and while flowers are great and jewelry is special, this year I’m trying to keep things a little bit more homemade for my celebration. After all, items made with your own time and love can often mean so much more than the ones that are bought. And just because you’re thinking of making your own Valentine’s day treats doesn’t mean they can’t be amazingly decadent!
Now I don’t know about you all but for me, Valentine’s Day is all about the sweets! In the past, I’ve looked longingly at the chocolate dipped strawberries that show up at the store and wanted to make them mine. And this year I am - but not in the way you would think! Because creating your very own Chocolate Dipped Strawberries is as easy as a few simple steps!
What You Will Need
1 Package of Fresh Strawberries (Tip: Look for ones that are a bright and deep red with greens on top that are full and green)
8 Ounce Package of Quality Milk Chocolate
How to Make Them
Wash each strawberry by hand and let it air dry on towels. Next, line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Before melting the chocolate, use your paper towels to double check they are dry, including the green tops. Melt the chocolate by following the package directions (the microwave method usually works fine and is much faster). You’ll want to use a large enough container that you are able to dip the berries and your fingers in but small enough that it will be deep and you won’t have to struggle to coat the berries in chocolate.
Dip one berry at a time and place down on the parchment paper. They chocolate should start to set almost immediately.
Your strawberries will be set fully within 2-3 minutes. Once they are ready, transfer them to an air tight container until serving. **Note** These are best when enjoyed the same day they are made.
So there you have it! An easy (and totally romantic) way to spoil your sweetie this Valentine’s Day! So forget the flowers, pass up the jewelry and instead give them a sweet treat that truly comes from the heart!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
