Spring is my favorite time of the year. The flowers are blooming. The weather is warming. And finally, after many long months of keeping my house closed up tight, I can throw open the windows and doors, do some good deep spring cleaning and make my home feel fresh again. Each year, I wait for that first week of near 70 degree temperatures so that I can really start my spring cleaning routine. I wash windows, flip mattresses and change out shower curtains…pretty much the basics right? But there are also a few things on my Spring Cleaning list that might surprise you! You see, I like to give my home a full deep cleaning once a year and that means not overlooking household items like the light fixtures, showerheads and light switch plates. Yes, all these things are on my Spring Cleaning list and while it may sound like I’m being a little over the top, the truth of the matter is, this is the easiest part of my spring cleaning routine! Why you ask….because I’m able to use my dishwasher and the power of Finish cleaning products from Target that I trust all year long to quickly and easily clean five household items that most people forget about!
So how did I come up with this spring cleaning routine? Well, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m the dishwasher queen. My hubby jokes and says if the dishwasher can clean it, that’s where I’ll put it. And honestly, it’s the truth. After all, why would I want to hand clean items when the dishwasher makes it so much easier? But, alas, the dishwasher alone can’t deliver a clean that lives up to my very picky standards. I discovered quite a few years ago that Finish cleaning products are the key to really sparkling dishes….and fixtures! Confused? Don’t be! Follow along as I simplify cleaning some unexpected items in my home using just my dishwasher and Finish cleaning products from Target!
Now, the first step of this process is, of course, stocking up on Finish cleaning products. After all, they are my trusted and true way to guarantee sparkling dishes all year long! And right now is the perfect time to make sure you’ve got plenty of Finish cleaning products on hand! You see, from April 2nd through April 29th (right in time for spring cleaning…wink, wink) Target has some awesome Cartwheel offers on their Finish cleaning products. How about taking 5% off of any Finish product using this Cartwheel deal? Better yet, until April 8th buy any 2 Finish Premium L & XL (MiO & Quantum) & 16oz RA additive and you’ll get a $5 Target Gift Card! These awesome Cartwheel deals make it the perfect time for me to head to Target and stock up, not only for my spring cleaning but to ensure I have the power of Finish on my side all year long!
Along with amazing Cartwheel offers on Lysol, Air Wick and Woolite, this was the perfect starting place for my spring cleaning. After stocking up and making sure I had everything I need to get my home sparkling, it was time to put my dishwasher to work.
Now, I’ll admit that I used to think the only thing that went in the dishwasher was dishes. But, oh, how wrong I was! There are so many household items that can be returned to their sparkling beauty with a little Finish spring cleaning! Over the years I’ve mastered easy tips for keeping my dishes looking great with the power of Finish like using a Rinse Aid for spotless glassware, a Drying Aid for drier dishes and a Machine Cleaner to keep my dishwasher clean. Plus, if you use a Rinse Aid in your dishwasher, you won’t have to dry your plastics when you put them away.
I’ve even discovered that a Detergent Booster can help with tough stain removal! But the biggest ah-ha moment of my spring cleaning career was when I discovered that the trusted cleaning power of Finish cleaning products can be used on everyday items around my home. Here are just a few examples!
Stove Grates
Since moving into a home with a gas stove two years ago, keeping those grates clean has been the bane of my existence. I’ve soaked them. I’ve scrubbed them. But little did I know that the cleaning power of Finish could clean then in a way I never could! During my spring cleaning, I remove them from my stove, place them in the dishwasher with a Finish Max in 1 tablet and watch as the months of baked on grease disappears!
Showerheads
A few years ago, I stopped to look at my showerheads while I was doing my bathroom spring cleaning and I’ll be honest, I was horrified! They were so gross and no amount of scrubbing with a sponge seemed to make any difference. However, simply unscrewing them, placing them in the dishwasher with a Finish tab and Rinse Aid and letting the cleaning power of Finish do the work makes all the difference! Cleaning my shower heads in the dishwasher has become one of my spring cleaning essentials!
Plain Glass Light Globes
I have light fixtures all around my house and they are some of the hardest things to clean. Yes, I try to dust them but they never really shine…and truth be told, I’ve broken more than one in the process. However, by simply removing the glass light globes (only use this trick on PLAIN globes) and placing them in the dishwasher to be cleaned by my Finish cleaning products, I’m able to get sparkling light fixtures with little to no elbow grease! Score!
Light Switch Plates
Maybe it’s because I have boys (that’s what I tell myself) but there are always nasty, icky fingerprints on my light switch plates. I honestly think that no matter how many times I tell them to wash their hands after dinner or snacks, they just don’t do it and so all the grease and grime that’s on their little fingers gets transferred to my light switches. A year’s worth of that can be pretty gross ya’ll! But it’s no sweat because all I have to do is unscrew the light switch plates from the wall, throw the in the dishwasher and let Finish do the hard work! In fact, with the addition of a rinse aid, I don’t even have to dry them once they are cleaned (this is a great trick for any plastics you clean in the dishwasher). That means light switch plates that look like new all in a matter of one wash cycle!
Silverware Trays
Not surprisingly, one of the dirtiest places in my home is my silverware trays. They collect dust. They end up with strange little pieces of dirt in them and they just get nasty. And nasty is not what you want to be storing your serving utensils in, right? During my days of spring cleaning I’m sure to pull out all the silverware and run my silverware trays through the dishwasher with my Finish cleaning products. While I’m at it, I give all my silverware a good wash as well to ensure that it’s as sparkling clean as the rest of my home.
As you can see, my spring cleaning goal is to clean smarter instead of cleaning harder and with a few simple tricks and the right products from Target, I’m able to do just that! Whether it’s using my dishwasher and Finish cleaning products to clean unexpected household items or using Lysol wipes to get rid of a year’s worth of grease in my stove, it’s easy to see that with Lysol, Air Wick, Woolite and Finish products from Target, I can clean smarter for less!
Now it’s your turn! Head to Target today to pick up everything for all of your spring cleaning needs!
