As I shared last week, I’ve embarked on a 90 journey to a healthier me with help from my friends over at Personal Trainer Food. Thankfully, they are taking care of the thinking part of food for me over the next 90 days and sending me pre-packaged meals that are designed to help me lose weight while still tasting amazing (find more on that here). For me, I know that they are taking the biggest part of weight loss success and making it easy because we all know that losing weight is 90% food choices and 10% exercise. Before we go any further, let me just say that if you’re looking to embark on a weight loss journey, I highly recommend Personal Trainer Food. They base their menus on the keto diet, ensuring that you’ve got a tasty way to loose weight that works without you starving in the process. Last week I shared that in just one short week, I lost ten pounds and over 3 inches. While I’m quite curious about what I lost in week 2, I’ve made a promise to myself not to get back on the scale until I’m done with my first 28 day program. I know from the changes in my body that I’m going to be seeing some pretty awesome results! But before we get there, I wanted to talk to you a little bit more about the 10% exercise in weight loss and more specifically answer the question of does exercise matter with Personal Trainer Food?
Please remember that you should always consult your physician before starting a weight loss and exercise plan!
What Does Personal Trainer Food Say About Exercise?
We all know that exercise is good for us. In fact, for years I’ve preached on the importance of getting out and getting active. However, I know that everyone is not like me. In fact, over the last year, I haven’t been like me. I’ve struggled to exercise and I’ve struggled to find time for walking. So imagine my delight when I learned that Personal Trainer Food recommends adding just 2,000 steps or 20 minutes of walking to you day. Totally doable, right…even for the busiest of us!
Do I Exercise?
I will be honest, I really had to dig into this recommendation by Personal Trainer Food. Did that mean that I needed to just do 2,000 steps a day? Did it mean that I needed to do 2,000 steps a day in addition to what I was already going (which, to be honest, wasn’t much)? And the answer I found is that 20 minutes of walking a day is a recommendation and I can take that and do with it as I wish.
On those first days when I was fasting, I stuck to the 20 minutes (I didn’t have much energy after all!). But once I got through the fast, I did increase my exercise. The first week, my goal was 5,000 steps a day. Then I moved up to 10,000 steps a day which has been my personal goal for quite some time. It’s not hard to get 10,000 steps a day just by making an effort to be more active and taking a walk either on my lunch break or in the evening. And the truth of the matter is, now that my body has adjusted to Personal Trainer Food and a better way of eating, I have more energy to be active. I feel better. I can go further. I guess I should say being more active is just a bonus of fueling my body the right way with Personal Trainer Food!
Do I think you can lose weight on this program with walking just 20 minutes a day? Absolutely! When you’re eating low carb and sugar and putting your body into ketosis essentially, you’ll burn fat regardless. However, for me making time for exercise is as much about my mental well-being as it is about losing the weight.
I recommend you find the right combination for yourself and do as much (or as little) as feels right while on the Personal Trainer Food program.
What Are Some Easy Ways to Burn More Calories?
If you’ve already made the jump and ordered your Personal Trainer Food (you smart cookie you!), you might be wondering how to burn more calories so that you can start enjoying all the benefits of your weight loss. Remember that an under desk elliptical like Cubii is a great way to burn more calories while you’re simply sitting at your desk (read my full review here).
I’ve also created a great list of 72 Creative Ways to Burn 100 Calories that can be found here.
The truth of the matter is, the key to burning more calories is simply finding ways to expend more energy. Walk around your home or office for five minutes out of every hour. Play soccer with the kids in the evening. Walk into the school for pick-up instead of going through the line. Simply find ways to make small changes every day. I recommend also incorporating a fitness tracker into your lifestyle so that you can see the progress you are making and how close you are coming to reaching whatever your goal is each day.
With all this in mind, the answer to the question of does exercise matter with Personal Trainer Food is yes. Exercise is always a good idea but you don’t have to buy a gym membership or commit hours of your day to cardio to see the benefits of Personal Trainer Food. In my opinion, when you can exercise for fun instead of because it’s required for success, that’s a big win!
If you need to lose 10, 20 or even more pounds, be sure to place your order for Personal Trainer Food today! Their easy-to-follow plan that includes simple, pre-packaged options that are low in carbs and sugar are the easiest and more delicious way I’ve found to lose weight. Wonderful you were able to lose the weight you wanted. The personal food trainers would be great if I didn’t have to feed everyone else in the family. Just me it would be wonderful.
That’s where it’s actually been awesome! I so often neglect myself because I need to cook for my guys who obviously need more carbs that I do (they are growing boys after all). With Personal Trainer Food, I’m not tempted to eat what I shouldn’t and can still eat with my family quickly and easily. It’s a win all the way around!
I think exercise is always important even if you don’t want to lose weight. It’s good to keep your body moving when you can. I’ll look into this. I would like to lose 10 lbs, but I also like to eat what I want. Still, I do try to jog daily.

I also monitor my diet and my food. It really helps to be guided by the personal trainer app as it could give you a gauge on your progress.

I feel bad if I miss a day of exercise at the gym. This food seems like a great way to add diet to exercise in a weight loss program.
I really need to kick start a new exercise reunite. I tend to get stuck in my bad habits for too long.
I think you do what works for you. Everyone is different. My oldest daughter (she’s 18) she can eat nothing but junk food, and lay on the couch and never gain an ounce. I on the other hand, even when I was on Jenny Craig, I had to workout daily for my body to shed any weight (besides water).
I’ve never been one of those people who drop weight easily. I have to do a combination of things just to drop one or two pounds.
I’m going to have to check this out. While I’m only a few pounds overweight I definitely want to make sure my eating stays on track as I age and as my metabolism slows. Thanks for the tips!
Exercise and the food you eat matters when trying to lose or maintaining weight. I wish I have a personal trainer.
I don’t exercise as often as I should. I definitely feel different (better) when I do though.
I believe a life in balance is the best way to go. Eat healthy, fresh and to nourish your body - exercise for your body and mind and things work out for the best.

This is the first time I’ve come across this and I think it’s awesome that they deliver ready made meals so you don’t have to worry about cooking and all that. It’s a really great way to give yourself a head start on eating healthy and losing weight. I love it.
Absolutely agree on the importance of exercise for many reason, not just weight loss. I like to make my own foods so probably wouldn’t do a meal service although this one appears to be a pretty healthy one.
When you put it that way - only needing 20 minutes of walking a day - it really is doable.
Exercise is so important. Physically, our bodies crave it!
I love exercising and do it for my health, not even for weight loss.
Congrats on your weight loss! I should start exercising again soon.
I have always believed that weight loss is 90% what you eat and 10% exercise. I’m glad you are killing it! Congratulations.
