It’s no secret to anyone in my family that Pecan Pie is my favorite holiday treat. Maybe it’s my southern upbringing but the combination of sweet and crunchy is just absolute perfection. So, when I can find a way to take my love of pecan pie and turn it into a breakfast my family adores (I’m told serving straight pecan pie for breakfast is frowned upon), I consider it a win. These Pecan Pie Waffles are a perfect Christmas morning treat and have all the flavors of rich, delicious pecan pie in a form that’s perfect for morning time!
Now, I will warn you before you make this delicious recipe that it’s going to be an instant family favorite. And if you love pecan pie like I do, well, just make sure you always have the ingredients on hand. Here’s what you’ll need.
- Boxed Belgium Waffle Mix (prepared according to the box directions)
- 1 Cup of Pecans
- 4 Tablespoons of Unsalted Butter
- 1 Cup of Brown Sugar
- ½ Cup of Whole Milk
- 2 Tablespoons of Sweetened Condensed Milk
- Make your Belgium Waffles according to the directions on the box, adding in ¾ cup of Pecans to the batter before cooking.
- While waffles are cooking, add butter, brown sugar, whole milk and sweetened condensed milk to a sauce pan, combine well and cook at medium-low heat for 8-10 minutes while stirring.
- Once the sauce has a thick consistency, remove it from the heat and allow it to cool slightly.
- Place the Belgium waffles on a plate and drizzle liberally with the sauce.
- Sprinkle the remainder of the pecans over the top and serve warm.
To make my Pecan Pie Waffles, I start by mixing up my Belgium Waffle Mix. Now, I’m a lazy cook when it comes to breakfast so I generally choose to use a box mix, but if you want to make your waffles from scratch I recommend this recipe or this recipe. Once I have mixed my pre-made (or homemade) batter, I add in 3/4 of a cup of pecans and mix them in.
Then I simply cook each of my waffles to perfection using my waffle iron.
While my waffles are cooking, I need to make the sauce that makes the Pecan Pie Waffles truly amazing and it’s actually quite simple. I just add my unsalted butter, brown sugar, whole milk and sweetened condensed milk to a sauce pan and stir all of my ingredients together well. Then I heat it over medium-low heat for about 8-10 minutes, stirring constantly until it gets to a semi-thick consistency.
Once my sauce is made and my waffles are cooked, assembling my Pecan Pie Waffles takes just minutes! I simply add my waffles to plates and drizzle my sauce liberally over the top.
After sprinkling on the remainder of my pecans, my Pecan Pie Waffles are ready to be served and are even more delicious than they sound.
Not only is there a the unmatched taste of Belgium Waffles in every bite, it is also paired with the creamy sweetness of my sauce and the crunch of pecans, making this a dish that truly tastes like it’s inspiration, Pecan Pie!
This is a perfect breakfast idea for Christmas morning or any time you want to bring the sweet flavors of Pecan Pie to the breakfast table.
Tell me, who do you know that would adore this recipe for Pecan Pie Waffles?

You had me at pecans! It may also be because I’m southern, but if it has pecans in it, I’m all over it, especially waffles - my favorite breakfast treat. Your pecan pie waffles are happening this weekend at my house - yum!
